Did anyone actually see Oliver Stone on Colbert (ie what this thread is about)? Oliver Stone has a mancrush on Bush :p

calling bush a great president? that would be sarcasm.

i can't wait for the movie.

Was it really sarcasm the whole interview? Hard to tell if it was, since he kept it up so long.

Oliver Stone sustaining in-joke sarcasm with *gasp* Steven Colbert (Hint: His entire show is based on sarcasm and satire) for the entire, wink, wink, 5-7 minutes of an interview is apparently beyond your ability to comprehend.

Your tiny little brain seems overwhelmed by the mere prospect. :(

Jeez what a dick.

Colbert is playing a character the whole show and being sarcastic, but his guests are always themselves. Guess you don't watch it though.

Oliver Stone is wretched. Please stop making your horrible films Mr Stone.

JFK is a horrible film? How blinded by ignorant partisanship do YOU have to be to spew that lame BS?

its not so much horrible as something that proves stone isn't above conspiracy mongering. if you are looking to stone as some sort of truth teller you are looking in the wrong place.

Uhhh, they're Hollywood movies, and damn well done ones, too.

Eyes up here, son. You staring at my package is making me nervous.

I watch the show nightly. His guests can play it any damn way they please. That you couldn't conceive of Oliver Stone doing so is just sad.

yea the game with colbert is the guest plays the straight man. if they don't, they tend to look like an ass.

as for the movie. well it tells you something about stone that he doesn't even wait until the mans out of the office to make such a film. we've already seen a couple iraq war movies that came out premature and were botch jobs because they lack the perspective/insight that comes from distance/time/history. seems rather arrogant to jump the gun like this.

But, in my defense I'm not familiar with Oliver Stone or his movies. I bet if a room full of people who didn't know Oliver Stone watched that interview they would think he was being serious. He really didn't act in a sarcastic manner or anything. Then again I skipped pretty much the whole second half as I didn't really care either way.

patisanship? don't know what it could possibly have to do with JFK, but that's certainly not the case.

It's lack of historical merit, for one thing. Being that the definitive truth was widely available and acceptable, that The real Kevin Costner was outed as a sham only a year or so after his crackpot theory made the rounds...

Oliver Stone likes to have fun with history, and seriously thinks he's right to do so. Speculative fantasy is one thing, but he always passes it off as plausible, if not factual.

My question to you is: Do you think JFK was an extremely well made piece of fiction, or not?

You said Stone makes horrible films.

From a craft standpoint, that's a ridiculous statement.

Again, only your personal political partianship could get in the way of you seeing that JFK is a very, very well made film.

I actually just recently received JFK in my mailbox from netflix. He does make really good movies. I will have to check out the clip on colbertnation.

It's PURE polemic.

Yet, as you have well noted, it's done really, really well.

Yes, it was done so brilliantly, no one cares.

I think if you've read enough of my posts in any film thread, you'd get a sense of my experience judging the merits of film and filmmakers.

That being said, Oliver Stone is the Stephen King of writing.

That satisfy you? ;)
