olive oil

First of all, I did a search and already found the difference between virgin and extra virgin. Now my next question is, is there much of a difference in taste between brands? Does the taste get much better as price increases?

The local Whole Foods here has a ton of different brands of olive oil. As I don't use the stuff really often, I can't justify the cost of buying a bunch of different brands to compare. Right now I'm using a bottle of extra virgin that I bought there, but it doesn't seem to taste very good to me. I wish I knew what kind they used at restaurants where the oil is used for dipping bread, those types always seemed to be pretty good.

Taste is subjective... you'll probably be best off trying several and deciding which you like best.

There is a difference in quality for your health. Buy cold-pressed olive oil sold in glass bottles for the healthiest olive oil.

EVOO ftw. (I <3 Racheal Ray)

I use it in cooking here and there. I get the popular name brand stuff at Walmart or whatever. Its fine for cooking. My advice is to try a couple of brands and find something you like. Get smaller bottles. Good luck.

You can always ask the restaurant which brand they use. I just buy whatever brand Costco's selling.

you know that a lot of those places use olive oil plus vinegar when dipping bread right? Just a heads up ---- damn, now i'm hungry for olive oil + vinegar and bread!

Depends on what you use it for. I use extra virgin for salads, but for cooking, regular virgin works well. One size doesn't fit all.

That is true, some bottles will even give you a little graph on how to use the different oils, explaining what they are good for. Good advice. Taste is subjective.

Love olive oil. 🙂

People have different tastes. My favorite is Pompeiian Extra Virgin.

For my taste, I have not found anything better out here in the People's Republic.
