Olive oil and expiration date??

i have a bottle that expired a few months ago. should i still use it? does olive oil go rancid or something? it stlil looks clear...

Taste it. If it tastes ok, it's probably fine.

I have olive oil that doesn't even have an expiration date on the bottle. It must be everlasting.

olive oil will go bad just like anything else, but has an extremely high shelf life, when was the expiration date?

No lie: my roommate drinks olive oil. He's trying to get accustomed to it because he wants to live in Israel. Isn't that sweet?

Oil and products with high oil content like peanut butter go rancid over time so check the odor of the oil before use. If it smells normal then it is probably ok but if it even has a hint of a rancid smell then I would fork over a few bucks and buy a new bottle.

yea i use canola more then olive, so that bottle doesn't get used up as fast as it should🙂

I add a tablespoon of fresh extra-virgin olive oil to all my protein shakes. It adds a bit of flavor and a good helping of healthy fat.
