Oldest Computer?

What is the oldest machine everyone has? I just scored a Solbourne 5/600 with 4 33mhz SPARC processors, and 160 mp of RAM. I also have a DECstation 3100 with a 16mhz R2000 processor (the first commercial RISC system I am told). My most recent "old" hardware, is a SPARCstation 2 with a SPARCstation 5 upgrade board, 110mhz processor, and 64mb of RAM. The oldest of those machines is either the DEC or the Solbourne, both wen't into production around 1989.
EDIT: Forgot to mention the cool part, the Solbourne weighs over 100 lbs, is about as big as 4 full tower cases stacked next to each other, has at least a dozen seperate boards in it, and the floor shakes when I turn it on.

I have an IBM XT sitting in my mother's garage and an old Mac Plus, from way back in the early 80's.

Hard drive, what's that?

Ross, the XT's had a 10 meg hard drive at least all of the ones I saw did.

I still have an original IBM PC with 2 floppy drives, it has the old green monitor with the long persistance screen.

I still work on Perkin Elmer/Concurrent 3210 computers at work. They're starting to be phased out now though.

Actually I think you're right it had a hard drive although it was very small, it was the Mac Plus which had no hard drive.

Wow, you guys are old school. Oldest I have is a pentium 60. Somewhere around here is an old 386 with a motherboard though.

I have a ZX81 (with the ram upgrade to a full 1k i think) in a box somewhere. Wish i still had my ZX spectrum

IBM PC, and IBM AT, DTK 286.

What is sad is that I got the first in 96', and I used them as my main computer(s) till 98'. I used the PC, then the AT, then a clone 286 (12mhz!).

No, it definately was not a feature. It's been quite awhile but I remember some very bad reviews on the orginal monitor that came with the IBM PC's.

If you did a clear screen, you could still see a ghost image for a short period of time. I think they only shipped with that monitor for a few months which is why I mentioned that the one I have has that &quot;feature&quot;.



RossMan, after I reread your post I was wondering if you were talking about the Mac not having a hard drive. Except for playing with a Lisa for a week or so I have managed to not have much to do with Macs.

Oldest I EVER had was a Spectrum (don't remember the model number...) Not the ZX Spectrum, that came much later. Right now the oldest is a 486 I have lying around sumplace collecting cobwebs

IBM PC Jr with the 32k ram upgrade for a grand total of 64k. No hard drive, and only one 5 1/4 floppy.

I had a 8086 in the mid-80s. Can't remember the specs in details. As far as I remember, it had no HDD, CGA color and 2 5.25&quot; drives. I need DOS 2.0 to boot the computer!
