This is probably not as vintage as your setup, but last year I posted on ATOT using a AM386DX-40 using win3.11 and ie5.5...I even made a thread about it, which is probably still archived on ATOT....it wasn't that slow to use and was generally as fast as an early p4 with 128mb sdram running winxp, when using IE.

it ran dos games like a champ though

I saw someone had a TI99/4A hooked up and surfing the internet last year.
I think that qualifies as old.

I used to run Lynx back in the old days. I never used my C64 for the internet....only BBS through QLink. I don't know why anyone would waste their time....hehe....bragging rights aren't worth it if you ask me. :p

Technically, ENIAC wasn't a computer per se, as it didn't satisfy the requirements of having separate processing and memory, internal programs and programmable memory. EDSAC was actually the first true blue "computer." The ENIAC, Harvard Mark I and EDVAC were all "calculators."

(putting the bullshite I learned last semester to use :p)

I just realized that the newest post in this topic is like 8 years old! anyway, I have a Microsoft technet cd that will allow me to run tcpip on windows 3.1. It's really great on Windows 3.11 because you can run 32 bit with full networking capabilities and Banyon, Novel and other wierd stuff.

What's with all the necro's?

Necrophiles on ATOT....who would've thought?

Honestly, if a topic is classic enough then you would expect to see a necro thread on it every once in a while. At least people are checking and using old threads instead of reposting the same topic again. Pick your poison I suppose....repost or necro...

there are Commodore 64's that can actually surf the net through an external modem and a free browser that someone made (text only).

I actually have a complete Commodore 64 with the color monitor. I don't think I will ever plug that thing in ever again. I didn't like it when it was new. I still have the monitor hooked up via RCA cables to a VCR because it makes a nice little TV.
