Older rig for COD 4

Hey AT, quick question

I'm selling my old desktop to my uncle so he can play call of duty 4, and I'm just wondering how well it will run for him. I've only played it on xbox, so I'm not really sure how demanding it is/isn't

Specs: (playing at 1280x1024)

e4300 non OC
2gb g.skill DDR2-667
EVGA 7600gt (pci-e)
XP pro

I don't want to sell him a computer that won't run it fairly well, and if its not up to par I might sell him my current desktop so I can rebuild

That should run fine at medium. COD 4 runs amazingly smoothly compared to other recent games.

I was running it on a P4 2.8 533Mhz FSB and a 6600gt (AGP).

That setup will run it just fine IMO

It is a strange question that you ask. You are the person with the rig. Why don't you install COD4 and run some benchmark?

If you don't have the game, try using this demo.

COD4 engine is actually very scalable. I doubt that you would need a new graphic card playing at low resolution, but if you find performance lacking, you can buy a new budget card for under $100.

I am in posession of the rig and it already has CoD installed, but I don't have the DVD with me and I don't feel like searching for a no-cd mod or whatever

If he *does* ever want some more performance, I'll just give him my 8800gt that I stupidly bought as pci-e 16x 1.0 for my 2.0 motherboard

OP, you should help your uncle OC that E4300 to 3.0ghz. Will probably do that on stock volts too. Temps should be fine with the stock cooler at that speed.

Why do you consider that stupid? There's nothing wrong with using a pre PCIe 2.0 card with a PCIe 2.0 board.

haha... lots of things in this thread is questionable.
anyway, i played CoD 4 single-player on all lowest setting at 1920x1200 with a athlon xp 3200 & 9800pro and only had to lower the resolution in 2 of the missions. Multi-player is more demanding of course. I just wanted to give you an idea of how low the requirements for CoD 4 is.

Yeah I know about overclocking the e4300, when it was my main rig I had it running at I think 3.2. I might do a moderate OC to 2.4 or so for him but I honestly don't think it will be required with as un-demanding as CoD seems

I might just have to find a no-cd mod for it to tool around on it til I give it back to him tomorrow >D

Oh, and buying a 1.0 card at the same time i bought my 2.0 motherboard when the 2.0 version of that card was only about $20 more at the time (Theres a considerable performance boost using 2.0+2.0, isn't there?)
