So, Mum had an Android, maybe 4.4 Kitkat, maybe 5.0 Marshmello or 6.0, I forget. It was an older android. Kept spontaneously rebooting on her, battery was shot.

I bought her a new phone, transferred the SIM card today, got it up and running. Android 7.0.

Know what she said? After trying to use it to call the local pharmacy, "I'm gonna SMASH this thing, and get a landline! I can't figure this out!".

Good for her. I don't care, she paid me for the phone already.

I didn't think Android 7.0 was all THAT different than older versions.

Her old phone was a Samsung, new one is a Blu. UI might be a tad different.

Old people have trouble adapting, even to simple things.

Weird, though, that when I got her a laptop with Windows 10 a few years back, she took to it like it was nothing.

I told her to look up "Android 7 guide" on the internet, and that would tell her how to use her phone.

Edit: Do you need to be a "Computer Genius" to use Android? Has it gotten too complicated for the "ordinary man (or woman, in this case)?"

Wait till you get old, eyes start to fail, and they change everything... Where is my rotary phone??? One day it will sadly...happen to all of us. Frustration will get so bad, that even looking at it ... gives you a migraine.

I think you need to give your mom a break. Maybe go over the icons with her again... I don't think, it's much different, but... maybe she somehow got rid of or changed the quick launch toolbar...

Who knows what her problem is, but maybe you should be more patient with her.

I feel your pain. I'm not a fan of mobile devices but I know my way around android. So what does she do? She gets and apple phone. Now neither of us knows how to use this phone lol. I couldn't even navigate with it so I had to watch a video so I could use the phone. And here I thought apple stuff was simple to use. I did get FB, pinterest and messenger up and running but that's all I did.

Don't even get me started on how no one in my entire family can write down passwords in one notebook and find them easily. And you can forget them ever using a strong password.

Should have gotten her an iPhone. Android is not for the older crowd as it is, and then you changed the phone on her. Shame!!!
