i just installed 2k on my 433 mhz, 192 mb ram laptop and its much more stable. 98 ran good but i like to experiment and xp just was a resource hog and not even worth the install. give it a shot with 2k and if you find it slows down too much then throw 98 on it. id go with 2k first off but make sure all your hardware is supported. i kept running into an issue with 2k and my built in 56k modem on my hp n3150 but its finally supported now so its not a big deal and 2k is off and running. good luck!
Before u switch to either of the OSes... make sure u have stripped down XP to its bare.... Turn of system restore, file indexing, visual effects ... etc etc...
naw that would be too hard to get working corectly with laptop hardware 😉
My sugestion is to use w2k for one it has the ability to use ntfs wich is a secure file system while win 98 uses fat wich is not. Plus its a bit newer 😉
i just got done trying lindows on my laptop and i would rather shove a hot poker in my eye than do that again. i r teh suck at linux! the synaptics touchpad is satan in linux since i dont have the know how to turn off double tapping 🙁
W2k is WAY faster and only took up around 827MB, :Q, compared to the 2GB XP installation.
Plankton: I was going to download Lindows for my laptop, but decided against it. I am a linux user but still I know Windows will work with everything since I will be traveling and such.
