Older Games

I'm thinking about purchasing a couple of older games and I wanted to get an idea of what older games would be well worth the investment... I'll start off and name a few I've been playing recently:

Deus Ex
Heroes of Might and Magic III
Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun
Diablo II (D3 got me stirred up and back into this one)

The original Quake is one game for me that never gets uninstalled or deleted. There's still a cult following for it, as graphical engines and mods are still being developed and updated.

homeworld 1/2 (i also worked on homeworld SDL, fixing win32 support again, but win32 support probably needs to be fixed again now)
, diablo series, planescape torment

quake 2 'weapons factory' & 'weapons of destruction' mods

total annihilation (with various mods and mutators & new units)

maybe mechwarrior 3 & 4

Jedi Knight,
half-life,
starcraft,
Kotor,
Diablo 1

(haven't played 2 yet 🙁). Yep those are the ones I can't get rid of 🙂

Pretty much every decent game I play gets played again every four or five years.

At the moment I'm mostly playing modern titles since I just upgraded my video card, but some things I've played in the last two weeks include Red Alert 1 (mostly skirmishes with my TC), Descent 3, Total Annihilation (co-op games with some mods/TCs) and Grim Fandango.

Clive Barker's Undying
Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Freedom Force 1 & 2
Dungeon Master &
Chaos Strikes Back (talk about old!)

I can't even count how many times I have played these. I bought Clive Barker's Clive Barker's Jericho by Clive Barker and found it to be a complete POS. Worst consolitis afflicted, retarded gameplay I have seen in a long time. Summarily uninstalled, then fired up Undying, had a blast.

Better/newer technology does not equal more fun.

Not really that old but been playing UT2k4 regularly since the demo release. AoE II always gets installed and played as well as Starcraft. Another game that almost no one seems to know about is called Massive Assault; it's a futuristic turn based strategy wargame that kind of plays like chess. Very fun.

Civilization 1/2/3 and Galactic Civilization (now GC2) are games that I always seem to reinstall at some point after every format / new build. Neverwinter Nights is another game I've installed a slew of times.

There are some older games that I try to play like Under a Killing Moon and Syndicate, but they don't run particularly well in Windows XP (Or at all in some cases). Also, I wish I could find my install disks for Alien vs. Predator 2 and Operation Flashpoint, since I often would like to play those games when I am in the mood.
