older fanless agp card recommendation?

Need to upgrade my old-school Radeon 9700 Pro. I?m interested in getting an older fanless agp card new/used. Don?t do much gaming anymore, used to. Concerned about getting a card that the cpu will waste. Since PCIe rules I?m thinking of only dropping between $30-80 on a fanless apg card until I get a new system. Newegg has a bunch, of FX 5200, 5500 and 6200 do you think one of these would do the trick? Underkill, overkill?

Not for gaming newer than Quake -3-, but for basic 2D/3D use it does support directx 9.

Is there something you want to run that rejects the 9700? If not, just keep using it and save the money to use for the real upgrade.

Thanks for the response. I am saving for the next real upgrade, but in the meantime I thought I'd quiet down my system a bit as my video card is my loudest component, and get a little faster graphics card to tide me over. The 9700 stills runs fine. I used to follow graphics cards closely, but since children came, feeling very unknowledgeable. It sounds like the cards in the link won't buy me much.

Maybe you can just mod the old card to be quieter? Unplug the fan and remove it from the heatsink. Remove the heatsink shroud (if it has one). Then, attach an undervolted 80mm fan to it using your choice of methods. Done!

Just keep an eye on temperatures (at least initially) and let us know how it turns out.

These are NOT upgrades to a 9700 pro. If you want to move to very quiet, I'd second doing something like Zap mentioned. Very quiet is a lot easier than fanless, and can handle a lot more power from the card too.
