Older Equip: Will Celeron 300A support dual mode

Hi,

I am in the process of purchasing a dual PII board that apparently supports 6x75. So, I was wondering if anyone knows whether the Celery 300A will run in a dual proc configuration, and will it OC to 6x75??

I believe the slot 1 Celeron 300A's ran in SMP mode (in fact if memory serves me correctly TeamAnandtech's D.net keyserver ran off this configuration overclocked to 450MHz) but it is not a certified Intel solution (ie. they dont want you to do it) and was hence disabled in newer celeron chips.

Yes, a Celeron 300A can operate in SMP mode, but you had to make a slight modification either to the pins or the PCB in order to get the Slot 1 version to work.

A Socket 370 Celeron 300A usually relies on the Slotket to do the same thing.
