Older BX boards... want to max out processor speeds....

Need onfirmation on two different boards:

1) BX6r2: Latest BIOS revision (and checking the SoftMenu setup) leads me to believe that my BX6r2 will run AT LEAST 700MHz Cu-Mines at default. Can anyone verify this for me? What's the latest version processor anyone has ever successfully run in this board? I'd like to max this board out with a Slot-1 processor (to maximize room for the cooling.. slotket/FC-PGA takes up more room).

2) Tyan 1832DL Tiger 100 Rev B: I have it on good authority that someone has successfully booted a Celly II (566) in this board in single mode and it picked up the correct (1.5) volyage, and that they were able to set the voltage up to 1.7 using an adapter. Can anyone confirm using a PIII FC-PGA and adapter (voltage selectable) in this board in SMP mode? Have to use voltage adjustable adapter instead of Slot-1 since the board has no voltage adjustments available 9only auto-detect). What's the latest version processor anyone has ever successfully run in this board?

What's currently the best FC-PGA to Slot-1 adapter on the market with voltage adjustment?

Thanks in advance....

You should be able to run any 100 MHz, slot 1 or FC-PGA w/slocket Pentium III on any BX board. 133 MHz P3's, on the other hand, will require running the board at unsupported speeds. Yes, it will probably work, but officially it's not supported.

As far as SMP support goes, any slot 1 P3's should be able to run in SMP. FC-PGA's at or above the CB0 stepping (possibly earlier, but CB0 for sure) should also be fine.

1) I don't know about the BX6r2. But since even the original BH6 1.0 can handle Cumine 850 with the latest BIOS, I don't see why the BX6r2 shouldn't do the same. I think it'll be hard to find anything above 700Mhz in Slot1 packaging tho. Especially the new cb0 stepping.

2) No idea.

3) Many consider the MSI 6905 Master to be the best slotket for overclocking. But Intel says to go with the same brand slotket as the mobo, so I don't know. Maybe the Abit slotket III just to be sure.

Yes! Because I did it on a BX6r2 MB. It was a FC-PGA, not a slot 1.

I haven't seen any test/reviews which compare Slotkets.
OPINION. I use Abit boards and have always used Abit slotkets. I'm not aware of any problems that they have caused. Of course, I don't use the voltage adjustment on the slotket, just set it to "Auto", and use the BIOS.
