Old Windows + programs inside HDD to be used on new system

Guys, I know it might be a silly question, but I'm in rush for my current project - client can be really harsh sometimes 🙁

So I decide to ask you guys,

say that I purchase a new Mobo with new CPU ( i7 3930k + P9X79 Pro )
with a new RAM, and I use my current PSU (Seasonic M12II - 650 watt)
along with my old XFX GTX 275

can I use my old HDD straight away?
I mean, using the old Windows 7 and all the programs inside?
(it really kick my butt if I have to install all the software and copy all my data to a new HDD, 3dsMax, AutoCad, Photoshop, Maya )

My current computer really, really working slow.. it took around 12 hours just to complete a pictures with 1500 x 900 resolution
my client is really kickin my butt..

please guys, give me some advice...

It depends. I moved my 30GB SSD from the old PC (C2Q Q9300 @ 3.0, P35 mobo, 8GB DDR2) to my new PC (X6 1045T @ 3.51, Asrock 990FX Extreme4 990FX mobo, 16GB DDR3), and all Windows 7 did was ask to re-activate (which I've been putting off, I plan on doing a full re-install soon).

Unfortunatly no, Windows will perceive the new mobo/cpu/ram etc., as a new computer, and will give you all sorts of headaches if you just try and use the old HDD. Sorry I wish I had more encouraging words for you.

If you were running a Pentium II and Windows 98....12 hours to complete a picture with 1500 x 900 resolution would be "really, really working slow..". You may have a malware problem if this "slowing down" has been steadily progressing for some time. And loading a drive that's already infected, onto new hardware, won't solve a thing.

Get a copy of Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10

Download the ISO and burn it to CD. Load the CD into the PC you want to test, then reboot. KAV10 will prompt you to update the virus defs. Click OK and it will download the latest defs and use those to scan with. It's a lot quicker than trying to run a scan from Windows, especially if it's running that slowly and/or is infected.

Both Vista and especially Win7 can be very tolerant of some major hardware changes. The ones most likely to cause problems are, of course, changes to the motherboard chipset (especially going from AMD to Intel or vice versa, or going from a very old chipset to a new one more than one generation apart); however, it isn't beyond the realm of possibility that it such a change will work just fine.

However, doing this on a machine that you depend upon for your livelihood is a significant risk. To minimize the risk, it might be wise to clone your current system hard drive and attempt the upgrade using the cloned drive. That way, if it doesn't work properly, you can reinstall the graphics card and power supply to pick right back up with your old system.

Another important issue totally separate from the hardware upgrade that hasn't been mentioned concerns applications which require software activation. Upgrading the motherboard will result in those applications having to be reactivated. As a result, it would probably be a good idea to deactivate the applications on the cloned drive prior to the upgrade, then reactivate them after the upgrade.

The hard drive very likely could have a bad sector, in which case even if you were successful in moving it to a new machine you still have the bad sector.

Try cloning the hard drive first and see if it speeds up the old computer.

Thanks for the reply people

I really appreciate the reply

Thank You so Much

I already checking bad sectors, defrag my HDD, and using the Kaspersky Resc Disk, and scan the whole computers with AntiVirus...

no hope...

My CPU currently is Core2Quad 8400 running at 2.66GHz
meanwhile, I use my friend's desktop to help up my work

Thanks again guys
