WOW!

I just visited my local CC in Miami, FL...no luck 🙁 This deal doesn't end until a weak from today (Sunday 29th) I suppose I'll have to keep checking back in order to get my hands on one. Anyone else with any better luck?

I just ordered one, same price, same rebates. The CC store was all out, but the guy said there was 200 in the warehouse comin' in on Wednesday. So I paid for it today and pickin' it up later this week. Better get your order in today before they pre-sell all of the remainder.

Wow. Why does this always happen to me. This happened with the OM DDR deal too. I finally get BestBuy to PM on the last day of the sale, and then the day after the sale is over, CC has it for cheaper AR. I just bought that 160GB Maxtor drive last night, had BB PM Staples. Now CC has a 120GB WD for cheaper $/GB.
(Plus, I personally prefer WD drives. What is the warranty on the WD?) (Edit: One year)

Edit 2: Read some of those reviews of the WD 120GB on CC's site? Not just one, but two, mention the drive overheating and actually catching on fire. Interesting. I've never, ever, seen a HD catch fire in all of my years of computing, which dates back to before the PC era. Did have one 520MB Maxtor let out the "magic smoke" once though.

Can a HDD actually catch on fire from overheating? I've never seen that before. Wonder what those 2 people were doing?

On another note, it seems to me like people have had more problems with WD drives than other brands.

weee scored one for ~$1.50 .. But of course, I wont know untill I actually get the HD in my hands and the rebate forms :!

did a pm to fry, and a special order since ALL THE CC STORES ARE OUT !@!

I just hope they honor the whole dealy-o

Question, this 8mb/7200rpm is pretty standard now; is it good for gaming?

I use a VIPower mobil rack for my backups. I pull the removable tray out when not using it so the backups are safe from lightning strikes and virus attacks. You can even hot swap drives. $80 for 240GB is not a bad deal.

I just special ordered one from the Newark, CA store. Paid in full and the rebates printed out. I had actually asked a CR at the SF store on Van Ness and he said that the Livermore distribution center had 700+ (or was it 7000+) drives in their warehouse and would be available later in the week.

I overheard at the Newark store, that they were not PMing to Fry's ad of $79.95, because CC's price already includes a rebate that makes it cheaper.

Just to let everyone here know...CC will NOT PM the frys ad. I just got back, and i told the person that I have PM with them before, and i said i dont want to price match it over the rebate price or something, but just the first price, he said your not supposed to do it that way, even though I told him I had done it multiple times, then he said, besides that, that would make it free, and I cant do that...F**king a$$holes! I sure as hell will NOT pay 130$ down for a rebate that probably wont even come Up your CC

FREAK (you). More HD for rest of us, why don't you steal it instead? Then it's free, and no rebate hassles...

I bought this drive on 5/1 for $120-$50 MIR. Is there any way they'd pricematch that to this?

if you haven't submitted the rebate and still have all your paperwork(and the pkg ..uncut upc..) you can up to 30 days..do a rering..
Even after your Circuit City purchase, if you see a lower advertised price (including our own sale prices) within 30 days, we'll refund 110% of the difference.

they still refuse, all of the people at our CC is well aware of this, and REFUSE to PM it, they say its allready lower with the rebates, I tried to tell the retard that rebates are a SCAM and most people usually dont get them, but he still said it was a lower price, I should have slapped him with my cock. Also, gibster, you should stop sucking cock, it may help you.

I think you should stop posting here for at least a month to learn something about courtesy to other forum members. In fact, I have locked your account to make sure that is the case.

Unfortunately, it does make some sense, since the rebates that they are offering, are their own store rebates, so therefore CC theoretically is offering you the drive at a lower price already, well, except for the fact that you have to fill out the rebates and send them in.

That sounds like a major YMMV based on the CSR you end up talking with. That said, I thought that CC was now in the same boat as BB, that if you PM'ed an item, you were no longer eligible for store-based rebates on that item, or the rebate would be dicounted by the amount of the PM difference?

Limit 1 rebate(s) or other promotional offer(s)
per person
per address
per household

says you can't get 2 hd's with 2 of each type of rebate.

I heard that getting the Fry's PM will invalidate the CC rebates. Is this true or not? I don't want to risk it. As of right now, I got my hands on a drive, and am debating what to do.....

i called CC and they told me that i could pricematch to frys but it would invalidate the rebates.

40AR is still pretty damn good though.

I bought a router in CC a week or so ago and the manager said basically the same thing - that any price adjusting would invalidate the CC rebate.

I don't feel that this was very appropriate to be posting here.

it's a good thing you didn't try that, you'd have an entire store of geeks laughing at you and you'd be hoping you wouldn't drop the soap right about now

Good god--What's with the recent spate of angry angry people in AT Forums?

BTW--I get a check for almost every rebate I submit.

I have no IDEA WHAT YOU GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT! I PMed CC with the FRY's ad JUST FINE, IT EVEN SPIT OUT TWO REBATES!! But I had to get the special order because they were all out... Check out the ChubbyWallet if you guys are still confused..

I think "gibster" just wrote that to not get you all excited :0

I just got a DVD burner about two weeks ago. I PM'd Staples, and there was $60 in rebates, $30 of which was a CC rebate. I got an email that says this rebate has just been validated, and I'll be seeing the check soon.

Don't freak out. PM's don't invalidate rebates 🙂
