In the entertainment industry we see a lot of remade movies and music covers of old songs, but we never see an old video game being remade, I have a few games that I love which are old and I think would be a lot of fun playing them again but in a new version using the most recent technologies available and I believe if done right they would sell again.

I have come up with a few games I personally would like to see remade, these are old quest/advanture games I played that have good story and beautiful scenary which would look amazing using modern technology, the games are:

Phantasmagoria, Sanitarium and Atlantis The Lost Tale, I will exaime what I think can be done with each game.

Are you insane? It happens CONSTANTLY, usually by devs who never even played the original. Take your pick: Pitfall (multiple times), Ninja Gaiden, Spy Hunter, Goldeneye, Prince of Persia (multiple times), Bionic Commando (a welcome one), Megaman X/Maverick hunter X, Megaman/Megaman Powered Up, and on and on and on.

There are TWO games called "Ninja Gaiden" and TWO games called "Ninja Gaiden 2." The series have absolutely nothing to do with each other except that they are from the same parent company (Tecmo) and the main characters have the same name.

Minor correction to your post, OP...

"We never see old, obscure video games that nobody ever played being remade."

Remakes of classic games that people actually played goes on and on. Final Fantasy, Mega Man, Turtles in Time, Street Fighter II, etc.

If someone updated/remade Tie Fighter, I would wait in line on opening day to buy a copy.

Never?

You sure?

What about Ultima 1, King's Quest, Space Quest, and Leisure Suit Larry.

How about Galaga '88 and Space Invaders '91.

Atari released a series of remakes with the 2000 brand, including Tempest 2000, Battlezone 2000, and Defender 2000. After Atari's demise, Hasbro continued the tradition, with 3D remakes of Pong, Centipede, and Asteroids.

Some XBLA and PSN remakes include Bionic Commando Rearmed, Jetpac Refuelled, Wipeout HD and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, Wild Arms was remade as Wild Arms Alter Code: F.

Portal's Flash version, or Gang Garrison 2, a pixelated demake of Team Fortress 2.

How about the ports of Final Fantasy and Link to the Past to the DS/GBA platform?

Turtles in TIME!

Pokemon Fire Red / Leaf Green?

Chrono Trigger, Megaman, Namco collections...

Just to name a few. ;)

Guess you proved me wrong but I still feel as more classic games can be remade and not just remade quickly and dirty, I am talking about doing a whole new reproduction of the game, especially using the best possible graphics.

This is true.

Phantasmagoria

Hey, Phantasmagoria was awesome... at least when I played it back during early elementary school. It scared the hell out of me, probably would be cheesy now, so I do not spoil my memories by replaying it.

Uh, about half the games on Xbox live arcade fall into the remake category (most recently, Monkey Island comes to mind). Major OP fail.

He didn't say it was bad, he said it was obscure which it very much is.

Gimme a nice updated Twisted Metal 2. Not 1, not 3, not Black. Twisted Metal 2.

Update the graphics, keep the gameplay the same. A few new environments, a little better AI and pathing.
