So I'm going through a box of old stuff and came across a couple USB drives, I got
a 16MB (first one i ever got - replaced floppies for me)
a 64MB
3x 512MBs
and a 1GB specifically designed for readyboost that came bundled with vista

currently using a 4gb so don't really need any of those, any one know some cool uses for em?

Treasure hunt.
1. Put treasure map on drives
2. Leave them hooked up to random public computers for people to find
3. Enjoy

They're good for semi disposables. Use them for docs and stuff. If you know someone with kids, they're good for taking to school.

Or throw copies of Tremulous on the ones that are large enough. A great small FPS game. We use to play it in our networking class. 🙂

Copy your medical records to one, label it and wear around your neck always. Then if you ever have need, an EMT can down load it and give you proper medical attention.

Leave viruses that format hard drives on the smaller ones and leave them around colleges and listen for the screams. 😉

I seem to be fixing a lot of Newbian's posts today.

Install various bootable operating system installers on each one. I do tech support and I have a bunch on one big keyring

512mb - Windows 2000 / 98 key

1gb - Windows XP updated till April 09

1gb - Ubuntu Install

32mb - FreeNAS

32mb - Damn Small Linux

1gb - Hirens Boot Cd

4gb - Vista 64

4gb - Vista 32

8gb - OSX 10.5.6

1gb - Linux Mint

Flash random strangers on the street - by giving them a free flash drive. Just hope that they don't notice the small size of your dongle.

Impressive!

Thanks for the suggestions --

I found a place to donate them, so most of them will be going there. I'm probably gonna keep the 1GB and make it into an emergency boot drive just in case.

as for pr0n, I tend to easily misplace USB drives, so that's a no go 😉
the portable apps thing looks cool, but I don't really see myself using it much as I rarely use public computers.

I was actually curious to know how much I paid for all of these, so after some digging through my receipts folder in outlook, I found the ebay confirmation for the 16MB, $25. I was probably excited as hell too when I brought that (I generally don't use e-bay unless I see an irresistable deal) lol.

I'd say donate them. Pretty all the suggestions were pretty goofy. Donate them someone that nay actually benefit from them.
