Old tower(?) needs New MB

I have an old Packard Bell case which uses a motherboard expansion slot for PCI/ISA cards. That is, the cards are parallel to the motherboard. My upgrade solution involves popping out the metal adapter plate at the back of the case and installing the EPoX 8KTA2L. It looks like a tower from the inside that was covered by an "sideways" port plate and the typical plastic cover. So I'd have to stabilize the cards somehow.

Is this going to work or should I just get a new case? What is a "normal" case that will be compatible with "normal" motherboards?

What is the 'L' on the end of the MBoard name?

Thank you for any suggestions, in whole or in part, regarding these questions.

Most cases from companies PB are highly propriatary and cannot take a standard ATX motherboard. Not only that, but many have non-standard power supplies. Good cases are cheap at around $50. It's not worth it try and get it to work with new parts. The bast thing to do is get a new system and demote this one to lesser duties.

Agreed, you really don't need the hassle the PB case will give you- suggest you look at a Enlight or Antec- good quality and a good price
