Hello,

* Title says it all :)
Please bring me up to speed on today's decent value build.

- Purpose
Fun.
For the memories.
My last build?

- History
I started back in the days when Gates was the richest most hated man, and Jobs was still poor.
I built some customs for customers during college time.
Then PC went mainstream. Apple made the iPod. And the rest was history.

- Budget
Cheap.
I have a working HTPC that has a decent mATX Silverstone case, a 400W 0-fan Seasonic PSU, a spare 1060 6GB and a spare 512GB Samsung NVME.

- Want
Either cheap reliable mini-ITX or mATX system to go into my Silverstone case
- or -
A moderately priced mini-ITX system that has a black no-RGB tiny quiet case

Thanks in advance for reading.
Double thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.

Let's see how B550 will pan out in few weeks time. And how cheap will it be? 3300X is currently the budget champ. But a lot of used 1600 and 2600 CPUs are also fall into the same price territory.

I'm not in a rush, so I'll wait :)
Just bought a used Razer Core today - and now I can use my old 1060 again to play Civ VI :D

Please remind us around this date next month so we can elaborate more through this sff build because it should be interesting.

Definitely.

Tried Quake Champions this morning and it was good fun.
I miss all the fun from gaming ..

Might even buy a used 1080 now, but I'm gonna make sure it'd fit into a small enclosure - future proofing :)

Well, my last rebuild was the most fun I'd had in a while, and the case was the only part that made it to the new machine. My sig tells it all, and it ran me about $900 all told. Didn't want to go with liquid cooling, and it's only in games that I hear the fans (1 case, 1 CPU, 2 GPU) spin up; otherwise you wouldn't know it was running. Like you, I came up in the late 80s and can remember how jazzed I was to FINALLY get a Pentium 100. Biggest difference? The NVMe drive. Just silly how fast it is. Runs Mechwarrior 5 like a dream.
