Old time DC'er but new PS3 owner

I have F@H running and according to the client I'm 'robor007' on 'Team 198' so I think it's configured correctly. My question is, with the PS3 client do I have to be 'in' the F@H application or will it process in the background if I'm doing something else like streaming music? When I try to leave the client screen it asks me if I want to quit. Will that stop processing?

You have to initiate the program to fold, and exit the program to do most anything else besides download in the background. If you are watching a movie, playing a game, browsing the PS3 store, listening to music or looking at photos streamed in from a PC you are not folding.

Sadly as mentioned above, the client will not run when you are not in the F@H application.

The PS3 is a good cruncher but it's far behind the Nvidia GPU client.

I've turned my PS3 off for the summer as it tends to warmup our living room pretty quick.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll just leave it in the application so it continues folding while I'm not using it.

Good to see you crunching again mate 🙂.

Btw I believe what Neurodog said about the Nvidia clients only refers to the very latest graphic cards from the 8800 & 9x00 series.

Set the folding app to run automatically when idle, & then whenever you want to use it for something else you can just exit out. You don't even need to bother restarting it, just exit your other activity & walk away.

If you're using a Harmony remote or something like that just tell it you want to leave the PS3 on at all times. It will do about 1K PPD, slightly better than 1/6th what a moderately overclocked 8800GTS will do.
