for myself i would say about $80, for RhoXie she has spent about $45

been playing everyday for over a year. I have 7 rune pages all bought with IP, 40 champs all bought with IP and about ~38 skins.

$20 bucks with the retail game. gave me enough RP to buy blitzcrank and then the april fools day warwick skin. i think it's worth the 20 dollars for anyone who is starting out.

Like $200, but that is for 2 accounts.

Small price to pay given how much I play it.

OMG. That's more than I could spend on WoW in a year. I must say at my rate of roughly 10-12 games/week that I accrue IP so slowly that I am considering paying more money to get some 6300 IP champs if they come on sale (Blitz & Kenen mainly) but I keep talking myself out of it because I still have champs I own like TF and Shaco that I've not given a fair shake to.

I tried out the intermediate coop v. AI the other day... color me not impressed. I tried Jarvan for the first time and gave them first blood when I sought a fight with soraka and ChoGath. My lane partner blitzcrank decided to sit under the tower and not help out. So Soraka escaped with 70 health then they pushed and blitz grabbed her for an easy kill, then when it cooled down he grabbed the Cho for another easy kill. Their lack of juking made skill shot characters too easy to play well.

I believe Blitzcrank is on sale right now.

That sux. I'm saving up all my IP to buy runes when I hit lvl 20 (a ways away), dunno how much it takes to buy what you need at that point though. I'm at around...5500 IP I think right now.

Tried three new champs tonight: Veigar, Tryndamere, and Nasus, and surprisingly I liked all three of them. I actually did by far the best with Nasus (which kinda surprised me), although I think I liked him the least. Only 3 available heroes left that I've not yet tried, hopefully I'll get to them tomorrow (Teemo, Tristana, and Rammus).

After giving up on Garen I bought Taric. At first I liked him, but man he's down right useless if your team spreads out, I like to play him pure support and stack helpful auras. It's just frustrating and I felt helpless.

Just can't find a tank I love that won't be banned.

yeah i have this problem in ranked. i love my shen, by far my favorite champ, but banned quite a bit in ranked. so i usually go with amumu. good initiator with his baller ult.

hopefully they'll un-nerf galio from his worthless state so i can play him some more.

anyway, gotta show off a bit 😛

picked shen. took smite went into the jungle. our Yi asked if i was still gonna tank (lol?) so i jokingly said i was gonna carry and he should tank and we joked around that our lux and swain should go AD. well, wouldn't you know it i actually did carry:

shencarry.jpg

lol. was pretty easy to tank cause they only had one AP, 3 AD and a rammus. the nocturne got annoying but once i got my thornmail he couldn't touch me.

I don't think there is anything useless about Galio, he is just situational. He excels as a last or next to last pick. Enemy team has 4 AP champions and 1 token AD? Galio for the win. I wouldn't pick him vs a team with 3 or more AD champs, but when you are facing an AP heavy team he basically becomes invulnerable after a few magic resist items.

I'll second the Galio is still badass comment. Don't play him against AD heavy teams but I still love flash + fortify + ult at level 6. It almost always nets me a kill.

Had two good games last night. Not the kind of wins where you steamroll them because they utterly suck, but the kind where you adapt and start winning team fights. Everybody actually works together.

In the first game they were doing a better job of ganking since they had a jungler and we didn't combined with a twitch, but nobody raged and called each other n00bs. We simply grouped up and started winning team fights. Our singed ended up with something like 75% of the team kills. His poison kept ticking and getting the last hit!

Second game laning was a push, but they were winning the early team fights. Until I realized that their kogmaw was going AP...which gave them 4 AP and rammus. So, yeah. I piled on the magic resist and became invincible. Fights were still close for a bit since we had a few ditzes that liked to attack rammus first, but my brother on trynd was able to pick off their squishies with near impunity. Also, how hard is it to not run in a straight line when a kogmaw is chasing you? If you see a red line with a little circle on the ground...hes shooting his artillery at you. MOVE ANOTHER WAY. They had Kogmaw, Lux, and Ezreal...if you're running away, for the love of god DO NOT RUN STRAIGHT DOWN THE LANE. We still won, as a direct result of me and my brother not being complete idiots. Which of course made us feel a little better about ourselves.

Those are the best types of wins. I had two games last night and the first was our team rolling over and playing dead with our shaco going afk when two people wouldn't surrender at 20 minutes. The best part was the Urgot at mid who didn't watch the bushes while shaco tried to take blue. I told him he should ward those bushes, and he said "don't be stupid no one buys wards at level 1." Anyway after they got FB, they didn't jungle and malphite / Akali zoned me really really hard and with the changes to solo lane exp they kept up with me experience wise. I eventually killed akali twice to get to 2/1/1 (died trying to save shaco) before our whole team imploded again and they rolled us.

The next game was the opposite. I got to jungle Amumu and every gank worked and we won every teamfight. Even when I died we killed 3 or more of them (I think I was 4/5/15). So while I went to bed happy I really think Riot needs to figure out a way to make this game snowball less.

I really don't think there is anything that can be done about snowballing. It is part of the game when you level up and purchase items. However, IMO the reason people snowball is more because the people that die don't learn from their mistakes quickly enough to not die from the same thing. How many times have you seen somebody die because they overextended their lane and got ganked from behind, but then go right back and do it again!? At least put a damn ward in the bushes behind you. I have killed so many in mid as Aniva multiple times in a row doing the same exact thing over and over. Learn how to dodge a skillshot, stop standing in the same spot for 10 seconds, and stop running back and forth in the same pattern.

My games last night showed that even if you're losing early, you can still keep up and turn the game around. Too often people give up and start bashing each other. Of course on that same note, learn to recognize when you're being destroyed and please surrender.

I disagree. You shouldn't surrender unless you're just lazy, your team isn't all there and/or have given up due to people doing whatever they want. I can't count the number of games my team was being wtf rolled and we still came back and won 20+ kills down.

The trick is you need to change your gameplan focus when you're behind like this. Too many times, the team thinks, we need to kill them to get turrets so starts chasing them around the map. This is a bad idea. If they are owning you in straight on head to head team fights, don't go looking for fights.

Farm as heavy as you can, get your items and hit and run towers, even if you just take a few pop shots at a tower, thats less you need to do later. Don't engage until you are forced to or are at an advantage. If you happen to catch one here or there off and can gank them do it..just realize most times if 1 is visible and the rest are nowhere to be seen, it's probably a trap.

Once you lose the real focus of the game, which is turrets, you'll never come back. I will admit, sometimes trying to make ppl understand this concept is like talking to a wall, but when they finally come together, it usually works. It also amazes me that when you have certain characters on your team that are just made for backdooring don't get it.

Agreed. I end up on teams with too many people that are WAY too worried about racking up kills rather than actually winning the game. Some of them even go as far as to bitch about having more assists than kills, which amazes me. The game is NOT about running up impressive stats; it's about pushing lanes, taking out turrets/inhibitors/nexus, and being a team player. A mediocre team that actually uses teamwork beats a team of "better" players who aren't using teamwork, every time.

You guys make me want to get back into this game. I played every day for about 6 months then tapered off due to various other games, I haven't played in months.

I'll second this.

I was playing in an AI game last night since I'm trying to learn how to play tanks (I'm terrible with all melee heroes and tanks in particular) so I took Rammus. We're getting roflstomped by the bots because everyone is OMGLEETPWNZORS and chasing after Taric, then Annie, Ashe, Nunu and Shen would appear and work them all over from behind (now *there's* an image).

I got tired of all this stupid mid action so I started jungling and working the towers. I'd hit one on bot a few times, run through jungle killing everything, hit one on top a few times, rinse and repeat. When I started this we had just lost our inhib tower on bot, by the time *I* won the game, I had killed all the enemy towers both top and bottom and the inhib on both top and bottom and had almost 4k health and some stupid amount of armor.

I think if I had been anyone but a tank I couldn't have pulled this off, since I needed to be able to take punishment from the towers as well as a champ or two that got there before I got away.

I've got to disagree with this. A good BG champ like Panth, TF or Yi does more damage per swing so in the end needs to tank less. That said, If people haven't try to find Condon's guide to playing LoL. "Though Shall hit the MFing towers".

Condon's Guide -- wow that's now old so don't take the example champs too seriously but the general ideas are still solid.

quibble #2, he advocates pushing hard but doesn't mention last hitting/zoning are part of not-dying/killing the enemy early game.

Nice guide...

I should have put more emphasis on the fact that *I* couldn't have done it if I wasn't a tank. Maybe with TF, but I'm terrible with Yi and Panth.

That is exactly what I'm talking about. Learn when it is obvious your team is doomed. "But I've won a 4 on 5 fight before, we can kill them!" That was with 4 really good guys against 5 mediocre guys, but this game is 4 mediocre guys against 5 really good guys that are very well coordinated. I hate games when it is 4 on 5 and we cannot even jungle yet people refuse to quit. However, even if I want to surrender, I never, ever stop trying. If my team keeps playing, I keep playing to the best of my ability. At the very least I might learn something to help me in the next game.

I think this is the biggest misconception in the game. It is not a game of champion kills. It is a game of killing towers. The only reason you kill champions is so they aren't alive to defend their towers. On top of that, if you kill minions constantly, it can be better than racking up champion kills.

Yep and Yep. I will say that I usually lean toward not surrendering no matter what simply because I figure if we're doing that bad, we need the practice 🙂

BTW that guide is awesome 🙂
