I've been on the fence about picking up she looks fun, but at the same time kinda useless.

Normally I'll run with MF, Vlad, or Galio, but last night i decided to try Veigar. Ended up playing a couple of great games - I didn't get fed, but was able to steadily farm up. One game ended with me sitting at 729 ap with a lichbane and the baron buff. Took out the last two turrets by alternating baleful strikes and then auto-attacking for 600+ a hit.

Besides being extremely squishy and the ult being more effective against AP characters, why isn't Veigar played more often?

A few reasons:
a. Squishy & slow
b. More melee characters than ever have a skill to close the gap and kill you
c. So many other characters can fill the AP burst slot just as well (Vladamir/Morgana/Annie being the really popular ones right now).
d. He's short
e. Harder to hit with his CC than a single target autohit like Ryze or Annie's Tibber-stun

Squishy nuker with no hard CC or escape mechanisms. His stun is alright but its more of an area denial effect and a number of characters can escape it pretty easily anyway.

And he waddles.

I played against a veigar with 900+ AP. He completely raped our team. His Q skill gets him free permanent boosts to AP, and he had a ring so he was boosting his AP pretty fast.

I decided to try out Janna after being successfully harassed a few times by her. Overall I'm not really sure about her, she's too much of a hybrid I think. She can be a life saver as a support character, yet her recommended items are for damage and attack speed. Nobody is going to match her for speed, but what's the point? Her passive is entirely useless. Her tornado is probably my favorite harasser in the game though. Throw her shield on Garen and push in. You can also put her shield on towers, like a mini fortify.

The last game I played with Janna we miraculously won. We had a feeding Eve that eventually just quit playing. Tried to call a surrender and nobody voted yes. She sat at throne the entire rest of the game. It was a lot of back and forth, but the other team was either blind or stupid. I pushed the top all the way to the inhibitor without them stopping me. I then rallied my team to the bottom while the enemy had to rush to protect their base. I actually got 6 tower kills that game and we won 4vs5. The other team was shocked but I always tell people laning is the name of the game.

Janna is a great addition to most teams. A slow, a knock up, a shield and finally a knockaway/heal ult.... I prefer to play her with hybrid items so she does some damage too (it's really easy to get rageblade stacks with her and the CDR +AP on Nashors lets her spam a respectable shield). I really want to try rushing the new malady on her.

I consider her tornado to be a 1 point wonder.

No doubt, but the same can be said for any sufficiently stacked carry that is played competently. The issue is kind of just that, he can't do anything [significantly enough] better than other AP carries to justify his shortcomings.

And albeit his wall is a hard cc in that it's a stun, but it's avoidable, predictable and escapable. It's reliable enough defensively when escaping or interrupting an ult, but the way it's targetted makes me rather have other sources on my team for a stun I think.

I'm starting to get the hang of this girl. Janna isn't a killer, but nobody runs as fast and she can save teammates. If she had a passive worth mentioning, she could actually go from good to great.

I think Jax, built right, could be my favorite melee character. I almost always do ranged, but I've been checking out melee guys to see if I like any of them. When I first started on him I hated him because he had no HP, but he ramps up fast late game. He's no tank, but he is dangerous. Very similar to Tristana, except much more damage.

Cho'Gath is usually regarded to be a Bad Hero. his aoe slow/knockup is easy to avoid, his silence is good but its small aoe and you have to get in their face.

nothing about cho'gath makes him a good tank, because you dont have to pay attention to him. in coordinated teams people will just ignore the cho'gath and kill everyone else first.

Sion on the other hand is different. Sion has a targeted stun, which is a pretty big deal. His shield/burst is scary in team fights, if he uses it properly, and he has that aoe heal to boot. I'd say Sion is the better hero.

I actually like Cho'Gath. Rupture might be easy to avoid if you are standing just outside range and looking for it, but in a fight you can't dodge it. Between that and feral scream he can slow and silence a whole group in front of him, meaning they can't do much and they can't get away. 3 seconds can be a long time. Feast is ridiculous because it is true damage, ignores resists. With 2k average hp for champs, and feast doing 800 damage unbuffed that means you simply can't have half health when going against this guy. And he gets stronger when he kills you with it.

Sion's ult doesn't make him more powerful, just harder to kill. It's really awesome though. If you put them next to each other, I don't think anybody could take them. There are actually a lot of heroes that work great together.

I really want to unlock Vlad next. That guy is a BEAST. I can name 5 champs that can push lanes like crazy, but if you are solo and against Vlad... I don't think anybody can outlast him in a lane. He doesn't push, but he harasses and just won't die.

<--- hates vlad with a passion

I also hate Vlad, haven't played him tho. I think I can take down a Vlad player with Anivia tho. Did it a few games ago tonight. Was a challenge I really wanted to do because he was killing everyone in our team.

My biggest issue when facing a Vlad is people on my own team who FEED him like no other. If you can't hold your lane, say so and switch. Sometimes the chemistry just isn't there.

to beat vlad you have to punish him when he come close to leech. until he gets his leech rank up he can't do it often and before he gets his big item he can't survive on it if you keep the pressure up. He will be afraid to come close. Then all you need to watch out if when he does get close, move out of the way so u dont get slowed for the full duration of the bloodpool. I only use some super long rangers in mid though (ez and kog), if you get someone without reliable long range spell like twisted fate, then good luck drawing gold cards in time.

Intentionally lost 3 games in a row tonight. Hate when you can see by the 5 minute mark that you have some retards on your team. I'd rather lose in 25 minutes than spend 45 minutes watching teammates die repeatedly and we lose.

And I'm not talking about noobs or players that just haven't gotten the hang of it. I'm talking full on retards that do stupid things and thing they are pro. I can carry noobs, but when some dickweed trash talks me and calls me a feeder when I'm 1vs2 and only died twice... I give up. I won't leave, but I'm not playing anymore. Don't trash talk your team, you can't win if you do.

I wouldn't let a little trash talking ruin everyone else's game, just because you don't have thick enough skin to be on the internet. That's gaming.

Nah I just don't have patience for people that trash talk teammates. I could just /ignore but meh.

BTW, I don't know if you guys check out the dance moves every champ does, but Malz has the best by far. He does the hammer dance.

Reached level 30 this weekend and did some solo ranked games. First game I played I was the last to pick. The bans were garen, amumu, shen, and galio. All tanks. So of course my team all takes the squishiest crappiest characters for my first game. Teemo, Lux, Swain, and Eve. So I really wanted to queue dodge, but I didn't. So I picked the only tank I had available to me which was Rammus. I've never played him before but I've played other tanks.

So I head top with Swain, who seems to have a deathwish. Tower diving at level 1. Moron. The other lanes are getting hammered. By the 10 minute mark the enemy kills were at 24. I hadn't died once but by now it doesn't matter. I said screw it and just started to have fun with using rammus powerball everywhere. Meh. Then my team starts calling me stupid for charging in as the tank with the powerball. It was either that or just sit back at the summoner pad and wait for the game to be over.

Second game I got to play, which took awhile with so many people queue dodging, I got to pick Xin. We had a decent team. Annie, Shen, Sona, Warwick, and myself as Xin. Warwick was jungling. Annie took bottom solo and I took mid because the annie told me to. No problem for me. I get an Ezreal against me at mid. I was holding my own, punishing EZ when he got overconfident, and making the most last hits. When warwick hit 6, we did a nice gank on EZ. With the suppression from warwick, and my burst DPS on xin, EZ didn't have a chance. They tried a few ganks on me but couldn't come close. At one point I managed to kill both EZ and Yi that came to help him try to gank me solo at mid. They were both full life. I got my late game items and I was steamrolling them at this point. 15/2/13 and it was GG.

The next one was bad again. Had a galio who never bought any items. a poppy that left early, and a kogmaw that fed, and a yi that fed. The kogmaw and poppy were also both retarded and constantly spewing the most vulgar language against the other team and team mates. Not trash talking, but straight up vulgar. It's like they had a list of all the bad words in the English language and were typing as much of them as they can and as often as they could. Ugh.

Welcome to level 30 ranked solo queue! It's hell, unless you have someone to duo-queue with. Then it's only 60% likely your team will be afflicted with severe Downs, as opposed to 80%.

I don't even see the point to playing ranked. Rammus can be a beast though, you should try him some more.

I can't even get the energy to play whenever someone picks eve. People come into this game thinking, "Oh snap a stealther probably pwns people in the face" and leave thinking the game sucks. 30 minute game and they have maybe 20 minion kills. Every Eve player is a retard.

Truth. Eve was the first hero I played extensively. And unfortunately as a new player you're only playing against other new players or baddies. So your awesome play as Eve, which is really more due to your opponents just not knowing how to counter you, only serves to reinforce the belief that Eve is actually good. Then you get into some matches against good players who buy Vision Wards and Oracle's and you're rendered completely useless.

This won't work against good Vlad players. I will gladly swap an auto-attack from any hero so I can get off a Transfuse. You're probably taking more damage and I'm getting half that back as life which is a win for me. The only people this doesn't work against are MFs and Trists who know to use their healing debuff on me as I'm coming in. Gangplank can also be problematic if he's saving Parley's for you since they do so much damage.

Then all you need to watch out if when he does get close, move out of the way so u dont get slowed for the full duration of the bloodpool.

If you're playing against a good Vlad then it's already too late if he's pooling you. A good Vlad should not be using pool offensively unless he's absolutely sure that he's safe from ganking and almost assured of a kill. It should be reserved as an escape tool.

Running mid as Vlad the champs that give me the most trouble are Anivia and Morde. Anivia, cause if i screw up and get frozen it will hurt. Against Morde, you won't be able to chip away at his health because of his shield.

One time I went mid against a Malaphite that had stacked health runes. When I would hit him with transfuse - his health bar wouldn't budge, and he kept chipping at me with his rolling rock. Not a fun early game.

Tried Janna for the first time this weekend, had a couple of great games. Built her straight AP, i'm very tempted to try her as AD or AS just to see how she does.

This weekend kept getting tank after tank that would not initiate or tank a tower. Very frustrating.
