Kog has been strong since his buff/"remake" a couple patches ago. I have heard (not 100% positive on the accuracy of this) that his W is currently bugged. Instead of doing magic damage it is doing true damage so it's not being mitigated at all by MR. 10% of your HP + physical damage per whack (once he has Bloodrazor's) is pretty damn rough and most heroes will be dead in 6-8 hits. It is not very hard to get an ASPD of around 2. His Q's passive + Madred's gets you to around 1.4.

All that being said, he's squishy, slow, and only has a slow plus whatever summoner spells as escapes. So never put yourself in a position where you can be easily ganked and hopefully you'll have a decent team around you.

having a great time using GP again... been a while, on 6 game streak. Its just so much fun seeing 1/3 chunks of health drop from people with one shot of parrley. His cannons can be a huge bonus too.

First off I find Kog to be a huge annoyance lately and try to get him banned every game. Second while Parrley is great I ran AP Yi for the first time ever yesterday and his Alpha strike is fricken awesome. It's a huge nuke (about 1/3 health usually) once you get some farm and hits up to 4 targets. I started against Cho (passive heal) and Kayle (spamming heal) so I didn't get any kills until level 10 but I finished 4/1/10 and we won every teamfight. The best part was that if they focused me I just popped meditate and chuckled (AP Yi + Meditate = god like tank stats for a short time). Thankfully they were low on stuns so I just waited for Sion to stun and avoided Cho's and had no problems.

i've been having a losing streak in ranked ever since this weekend. had 2 games with no tanks at all that i didn't bother to dodge, lessons learned, if ur team have no tank and your teammates tells you it is going to be fine, it isn't

This reminds me of something I wanted to ask. If you apply a healing reduction effect during "ticking" heals, does it affect the ticks after the application? Or does it need to be active prior to the heal going off for it to work?

Meaning something like executioners calling or ignite? I would assume it works for the next ticks but I can't say definitively.

This weeks patch notes are up. There's a swap option in draft mode (sweet) and a new item Manamoon which converts .02 * maxmana into AD much like archangels does for AP. Sadly the servers will be down until 7EST =(

Wow. This swap option MIGHT tempt me to play again.

Almost...

Also, the new champ is OP as should be expected of a 6300 champ in the first week -- standard Riot there. Got first blood and was able to solo lane against zilean + kassadin effectively (our Warwick had no idea how to jungle so it was a waste though).

Didn't get her in another game, but she ganked well and carried hard there. "Make it rain" is a fantastic farming, denying and harassing tool. The ult has a screen-wide range. The 'q' makes it difficult for enemies to position themselves behind minions to avoid Morg, Blitz etc.

Looks a lot like a ranged Xin repeat. I'd say she deserves a ban over Kog.

her ult is hilarious the range is so long and wide

funny thing about the Q, I was mid once against ezreal and we wound up on opposite sides of the creep wave (me trying to block his skillshots with mine, and still use his for Q bounce, and him trying to get around mine to use skill shots on me)

when I got him low he instinctively ran to my tower and I got FB and a kill, haha.

Two big things announced recently.

First, LoL is going to get a graphic overhaul sometime soon. You can do a Google search and find a few sample shots of how Gragas and Mordekaiser look in the update plus one shot of Summoner's Rift Winter. Nothing too drastic. The article states they're trying to go for a table top figurine look with the game.

Second, another new champ coming. This one looks really cool because she's purely support. All of her abilities are passive auras with activated abilties. So I'm assuming she'll be like Udyr in that once you hit the active, that abilities passive then becomes the aura she's projecting. I could be wrong though and each of her three ability's passives are projecting at once. Anyway, I forget the numbers but the gist of the abilities are:

Q - Passive: Gives all allies a boost to AR/MR. Active: Heals herself and the ally with the least amount of HP near her.

W - Passive: Grants all allies a boost to AD/AP. Active: Deals magic damage to the two nearest enemy units (prioritizes heroes).

E - Passive: Grants a flat movement speed bonus of 10/15/20/25/30. Active: Grants 10/15/20/25/30% movement speed boost for 1.5 seconds.

R - A skill shot that will cause all enemy champs hit in a line to dance for 2.5 seconds.

Edit: On second examination, she's going to have a tough time farming with those abilties. Given that only the heal and magic damage actives will scale with AP, you're probably going to have to build her AD. A lot of the guys first commenting on her I saw were saying rush locket, but it's so expensive. I'm thinking a build similar to aura Taric will be best. Stark's, Soul Shroud, Aegis, etc.

Me and Gragas are best drinking buds now. I am enjoying the heck out of this game and love this week's champion rotation. My only complaint is that my pal Gragas needs a stun or his E needs a longer range/slow time. Or I could just suck, either way I am having fun!

Gragas was one of the first champs I played and he's fun but I really didn't understand the game then, I should give him another shot. I don't know why but AP Yi and Sion are insanely fun right now.

New 5v5 map coming. Sounds like a fun map with bigger jungles, smaller lanes, and teleport points.

Riot Games, the developer and publisher of League of Legends, has proudly announced the latest map to be added to the multiplayer strategy game: Magma Chamber. The map will be optimized for 5 vs. 5 play, similar to the original Summoner's Rift map, but is intended to have a different feel and strategic approach. Unlike Summoner's Rift, which focuses on larger team fights in the mid and late game, Magma Chamber emphasizes smaller, more tactical fights, map awareness and victory in specific lanes. This is accomplished via a richer jungle and more isolated lanes that are difficult to switch between. Magma Chamber will also feature all new neutral minions that grant powerful buffs when defeated, new brush configurations and some other surprises that will help you traverse the rocky terrain.

Lore

Deep within the obsidian mountain from which the Institute of War is sculpted lies the League’s most intense Field of Justice to date – the Magma Chamber. Before the time of the League, the Chamber was the heart of a powerful, but now dormant, volcano. Ancient magma flows cut out a gigantic cavernous room that the League has reshaped for its own purposes. This battle arena was built specifically to address the increasing number of disputes between Demacia and Noxus. It is one of the largest Fields of Justice found anywhere on Valoran. To that end, teleporting platforms provide champions with the ability to rapidly relocate to strategic points in the arena. The magic-infused stone and cooled magma that dominates the structure of the arena will force champions to work together more closely in pushing toward the enemy’s nexus. It will be harder for a champion to rely on their summoner to traverse hazards and obstacles. The League is preparing this Field of Justice to be the premier arena for its use; as such, a slew of new monsters and minions await champions in what will surely be their greatest challenge yet.

Sweet! I wonder why they chose to make another 5x5 but I love new maps, they're far more exciting than new (unbalanced) champs. Personally I would love to see a 8x8 map but that would require that they give out more free champs per week I suppose.

Does this mean no summoner spells or maybe no flash/ghost/teleport? Or are they just commenting on the size of the map?

It's ambiguously worded. At first, I thought it meant there'd be less places on the map where Flash would let you jump to safety in another section of the jungle. But that would also eliminate the champion ability advantages on guys like Ez, Trynd, Shaco, Shen, etc.

It could mean there are "dead spots" on the map that when you enter them you can't use Summoner spells. That would certainly add a new element of strategy to the map.

8x8 would probably blow up their already shitty servers.

Been having fun myself. Since I was pretty decent at DotA, I've been winning any game that I don't have some one from my team quit out of early for whatever reason. my KD ratio is almost always positive. I've had several 20-30 kill games with Sivir and Olaf recently :) Picking of Mordekaiser and he's pretty fun too.

i was playing mord for a while and enjoyed him a lot. moved over to nunu now and really like the AP/tank style he offers.

the only thing i really hate is playing against another mord. somehow when i play mord, i never regen fast enough, but playing against another mord, they always have the shield up. always :p

I've been playing Rammus lately since there's a major shortage of people willing to tank and I like to win =)

I've never realized how good of a char he is, his taunt can highhandedly ruin a careless carries day and he does enough damage that you can last hit easily and get some farm (something that I can't do well with alistar - very slow attack animation).

The only thing I am massively disappointed in is how no one in solo queue is willing to trade characters and just take their favorite (getting a Kog, Amumu or Garen can be game breaking). Of course the fact that the chat server rarely works might be part of this, but I think it's similar to the idea that no one tanks, they just take their favorite toon and hope everything works out. Running with a group is infinitely better (be sure to check out lolvent.com for your free vent action).

Well, my favorite characters so far are Sivir, Amumu, Mord, and Xin. I've been a beast with Xin lately and get so many butt-hurt comments from people it's too funny. I'm thinking of getting either Akali or Katarina next once I reach 3150 IPs again.

Oh and I'm surprised that 90% of the game population never buys oracle potions when fighting against teemo, twitch, shaco, and evelynn. These characters are godly because of their stealth, but terribly squishy without it.

That's how the game plays at low skill levels (which you're put in when you first start playing). The old adage "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of the cure" holds true here. Even if your hero is a DPS (physical or magic doesn't matter), you're going to benefit from building some defensive items. You aren't going to get any kills if you're dying in a few seconds.

You don't see Eve at the higher levels of play at all. Twitch on rare occasion but he's very hard to play effectively once his stealth advantage is neutralized. Shaco isn't shutdown by an oracle at all, but wards in the river definitely help early game in spotting his gank attempts well in advance.

Oracle for shaco is so his butt can't stealth initiate a gank on you. Also so he can't pop it to get away either. His stealth doesn't last as long as Eve's or Twitch's, but it is long enough.

The oracle pot works wonders against teemo as well. When you can see those stupid effing mushrooms and him trying to stand still for stealth, it shuts him down completely. That and I like getting 25 gold for popping his mushrooms for a bonus.

As for high levels of play, I'm not sure what you are referring to being different. Although I'm level 12 in game, I mostly play with level 30s and usually do very well. I played DotA for a long time so I know how to play this game. Defense is important for some chars, but not all. As an example, I was doing a 5v5 game Saturday night that ran for almost 2 hours. The other team got an early jump on us and pushed us back to our base. I was playing as Xin and by the time I got all the items I wanted, I could insta pop most chars on the other team.

Zerker Boots + Sword of Divine + Starks + Mordreds Bloodrazor + Cleaver + Tri Force = 2.5 attack speed with Xin and massive damage with the items above in a few seconds to any character. The only person I saw that could kill me just before I killed them 1 on 1 was their pumped up Yi. We almost came back and won as we pushed them back to their inhibitors and beat them so it was super minion versus super minion. I was the one asked to push the lanes and I did thinking everyone else would stick together. But all of a sudden everyone broke off from the group for some odd reason and everyone else on the team died except me. I was left to defend the base against 5 chars who were also maxed and I couldn't do it. So we lost. Still a close come back from the brink.

Side note of make up was.

Us:
Xin (me)
Amumu
Ezreal
Katarina
Mord

Them:
Cho'Gath
Yi
Fiddlesticks
Olaf
Gangplank

I could kill anyone at the end 1 on 1 except Yi. It wasn't even a contest. Capped attack speed of 2.5 without using my W meant I would E to teleport into a fight, pop R and then Q as much as possible. I may have only been hitting for 250 or so per hit on average, but when I can do 5 hits per second, that added up FAST.
