Old Technology Needed: What was the best slot-based P3 motherboard?

My mother just called me and told me her computer was going whacky and I know exactly what the problem is- her junk motherboard 😉

Anyway, in her computer she has one of the old Slot P3 processors (700MHz, 100MHz FSB, running 256MB Crucial PC100) and her mobo went kaput. I don't really remember the old technology as well and was wondering, what were the best P3 mobos for this type of processor back in that day? Something with onboard video would help, but isn't required. Also it needs to be a smaller form factor mobo, around 2-3 PCI slots if possible 🙂

Thanks for the help everyone, I'm looking forward to the input 🙂

Wow... Slot 1 and needs to be mATX, huh... I was going to say Asus P3BF, but since you need mATX board, I would say try to search for an Intel board (made by Intel). I'm not 100% sure, but I believe they have one. Can't get much more stable than that... 🙂

Intel definitely made a mATX board, OEM for gateway with the BX chipset.

I got one from Overstock.com a couple years ago, but the ceiling on the processor speed was pretty low.

Onboard sound and video (tnt) (yawn....)

I assume there were others....

Thanks for the recommendations all. Her case is one that has only 3 external 5.25" slots and 2 external 3.5" slots. Actually it looks exactly like the case found HERE only with one slot shaved off of the top. I'm not too sure that one of the ATX sized mobos would fit in it ...

Does anyone have any information regarding the stability or non-tweaked performance from the OEM Intel boards? Or would I be better off going with something like a VIA chipset?

Also, bump for more info 🙂

OEM/Retail Intel boards are going to be some of the most stable boards you can buy. This makes up for the slightly lower overall performance of the Intel boards.
