The latter are much better for energy consumption and longevity, but the old bulbs give off a much better light imho.

Oh, I forgot how much I love the light of an old fashioned light bulb! I think i'll go home and throw out those energy efficient pieces of junk

the IBM spring-loaded keyboards had a much better tactile feedback than the current crop of soft-touch keyboards.

Klipsch promedia 4.1/5.1 are leagues better than the multimedia crap they come out with now.

old appliances all seem to be more reliable.

I still have 5 model M keyboards in my house. I think that should last me my lifetime.
Assuming I don't kill them with drinks.

I had a bunch of Focus FK9000's, time has taken their toll and I'm down to my last that is going out. But I do believe there are companies selling updated old school feel keyboards, however they're not cheap.

probably because you never looked at the hd CRTs.

not any that are bigger than a toaster.

my tv is 50 inches diagonally, 16:9. is that possible with a crt? does it weigh less than 400 pounds? is it less than 4 feet deep? how bad is the screen curvature? does it consume less than a kilowatt of power?

Talking about picture quality, not size. Biggest HD CRT I think was 34".

If you want to talk screen size, I am shooting 110"

BOO to the FCC for lowering everyones transmission power...

I agree, used to be fun to listen to conversations on the police scanner. Same goes for the old 46-49Mhh cordless phones, I could hear them all over as well..

nothing wrong with today's good weed

gas stoves > electric
heavy pots and pans > aluminium
wired keyboards > wireless
real food > gmo / synthetic / prepared
car cosmetics of the 50's and 60's > efficient, safe, boring
tube amps > solid state
elaborate mechanical watches > swatch
old music and movies > today's crap
razor > electric
ivory soap > fake soap
vinyl > mp3
cotton, wool > polyester
paaper towels > shamwow

Negative. As soon as I buy a record I clean it, rip it, then put it in a plastic sleeve and shelve it. I get the nice 'warm' sound of an LP but all the convenience of library searching and playlists.

Purists would say it's impossible to digitize the vinyl sound. Do you disagree? Can you tell the difference between a vinyl rip and a CD rip?

I can hear some of the hissing and popping when I'm listening through headphones. I don't think it sounds quite as nice as a straight play on the decks but I honestly can't be bothered to change out records constantly.

My main point is that all the additional features and convenience of MP3, for me, beats out the audio quality of pure vinyl.

I shoot through windown panes too. And up here they are double paned.

Sorry, but that's just wrong. LCDs can be excellent, and nearly on-par with Plasma. You can generalize that overall, plasmas are of better quality than LCD, but to just say that LCDs suck ass, period, is stupid. Samsung makes amazing LCD TVs.

Samsung makes great DLPs too... DLP is simply FTW when it comes to going up higher in size.

I would throw in almost ANY type of food processing technique/tool. Everything from pasta makers to microwaves, the better way is almost always the low tech way.

This too. Especially when people try to cook things like eggs or meat in a microwave or one of those stupid low fat grills.

The one and only exception for me is microwaved steamed rice in one of those plastic steamer things. Perfect.

Meat should never be put into a microwave. It is an abomination and an insult to the grill.
