Old School socket A overclocking question

I have a Barton 2800+ that hits 2400MHz at 1.72v.

Put this on a Biostar NF2 board that has multiplier options, but of course the cpu is locked.

I used the wire wrap pin mod at ocinside.de (and the corresponding wire hoop in the socket)
but I failed to unlock the multiplier.

It has been quite sometime since I have messed with a Barton, do I correctly remember that later cpu's were super locked and impossible to pin mod?
