Old school games are so much better than current games, IMO.

I still have and play games like Shogo (my personal favorite), Septerra Core, Unreal (the first one and expansion), and Driver. So old school yet so fun. It seems older games focus much more on story-line than on graphics. I've played Unreal II/Ut2k3/other new games, but they aren't nearly as fun as older games

The most recent game I own is MechWarrior 4 Vengeance (and Black Knight expansion). I actually got THE MECH PACK @ gamestop, $30 for MW4: Vengeance, Blackknight and MechCommander 2.

Still waiting for Mercenaries to drop in price. :)

So what do you all think, are older games better than newer ones?

I like old an new. I mainly play new ones but I'll bust out some oldies but goodies to mess around with every now and then.

I truly miss Doom II as well. Intelligent AI doesn't always mean fun. That game required some serious skill to circle-strafe and slaughter a room full of monsters.. Just you and your trusty double barrel shotgun.

I also miss that atmosphere Doom II created. It was truly satanic, blood-boiling, & frenzic. Someone really need to recreate that genre again. And Doom 3 doesn't seem to be going that direction at all, more like a Resident Evil FPS..

Serious Sam seems somewhat (although not as gory) as what Doom II brought to the FPS scene. It definitely has been an unmatched force in terms of the graphic nature of the gameplay.

I love the Serious Sam engine. I had SS2. So fun. Literally hundreds upon hundreds of baddies on one screen and frame-rate didn't take a hit. Such a fun game.

Those games are hardly old school. Unreal?

Games that I played, er.. 'back in the day': Falcon 3.0, Wolfenstein 3d, Doom, X-wing/TIE Fighter, X-com, UFO Defense.

while it was a great game with beautiful graphics, it was too bright and outdoorsy for me. Come on! how can you not miss the blood stained & intestine-filled walls and ptich black rooms with demonic midi soundtrack in the background pumping your blood...

see it for yourself and remember..

oOoh.. makes me wanna install it again and starting murdering..

BRING IT ON!!!!

old school games are better in your mind since you played them as a kid.:p you weren't all jaded and cynical back then.

perhaps you were easily amused back then.
