Old School! Atari 2600 problem.

Hey guys,

I have a 37" LCD that I've been attaching my vintage game consoles to, but I hit a snag trying to get my Atari 2600 to connect. This TV doesn't have a coaxial input. The Atari unit only sends signal out on a coax signal to an RF switch which is supposed to plug into a TV's coax jack.

So in short... how would one hook up a coax-output-only device to a TV with no coax input? I guess what I need is the opposite of an RF modulator. I went to Radio shack and they didn't know; went to the local electronics supply store which is the size of Costco and they didn't have any ideas either. I find it baffling that what I'm trying to do seems impossible. Any ideas?

I've never seen a device to do that, though then again I've never actively tried to find one. What about running it through a VCR?

Edit: You could also mod the 2600.

Toolfan: Thanks for that link! That is what I needed for my 2600 and ColecoVision. Now if the only had an Intellivision adapter :)

Nooooo! The crap video quality is part of the genuine 2600 experience ;)

(And how come a TV doesn't have an input for a cable/aerial signal? Are you REALLY sure about that?)

Yah, I'm out of tune with modern TV's but I can't imagine it doesn't have a coax input.

Also, as mentioned before, one is included in a VCR and some recievers. I know Best Buy and Radio Shack carry them (Rf Demodulators, that is).

Baseball and football on the colecovision with the super action hand controllers were the best, rocky wasn't bad either.Sadly nothing lasts forever, cept aids and stuff like that.
