Old Scanner Help

I've got an old Microtek Scanmaker E3 that used an ISA SCSI card to connect. My new mobo does not have an ISA slot.

Would the scanner work with a PCI to SCSI card and if so, a reasonably priced on? I'd rather not spend over $30.

Oh ya...the scanner does have a parallel port but that doesn't work for some reason.
 
Possibly it will. The usual way out is Tekram's 315U card, and a new cable if your old ISA SCSI card had the ancient 25-pin connector rather than proper 50-pin.

Before you go purchase that, check whether your scanner even has drivers for your current operating system.
 
Sure it'll most likely work but my thought is if that is your only SCSI device then just apply the $30 towards 1 new Scanner as they are inexpensive and the technology over the last few years on them has improved.
