I have an old 100mhz, 8mb ram, 1 gig gateway. I don't use it at all. Any ideas on how I could use it at all. Maybe making it a server of some kind or something so its not just sitting around.

install Linux and crunch SETI or something. It could also be used as a Linux Firewall

I recommend putting FreeBSD on it. www.freebsd.org

If you're on broadband put an ethernet card in it and install bsd, use it as a server of some kind.
