I just dig out some junk that i left in my garage. There is an external CDROM that connects to Parallel port. I want to try to use it in my system but i can't find the name of for the device.

Plug it in the XP and no respond. Probably i need driver or something to initiate it.

Anyone has any idea? thnaks

you might have better luck posting this in the peripherals forum (i think that's what it's called) rather than ATOT

Might try asking in General Hardware. They may be able to identify it if you post some pics

I'd say fat chance of it working with XP. I doubt the manufacturer has made any drivers for it within the last 4 years. You might be able to find some generic ones, but I don't think XP wants to have anything to do with a CD-ROM on a parallel port.

Are you even sure it's for the PP, and not SCSI 1?

Yes, I am sure its PP.

I hope someone can help.

There's no brand stated there. I put a CD-ROM in and power it up and it still work, but dunno about the interface thou.
