Old p2/3 system with BH6 motherboard, max CPU possible?

I have a nice p4 system at 2.85hz but have a 2nd p2 system (300 at 450) that I was curious how I could upgrade CPU wise.
It's an Abit BH6....the original first version I think.


From what I remember I think it has official support upto 700mhz or something, but I remember the last bios update I did (couple years ago or more) showed upto 850, but all the chips are multiplier locked anyway.

So anyway....I see this place that has a p3 1000mhz that is slot 1 and 100mhz bus, so it's concievable it may work but not sure. On that specific CPU it says the following:

So I'm wondering if the limit would be like 700, 850, or if this 1000 would work or not. Slot one processors seem hard to find, but i saw the above for what seems like a good price.

BH6 will support any PIII or Celeron 100 FSB CuMine CPU including 1.1 GHz. If its the rev 1.0x, use the SS BIOS, 1.1 or above, use SP BIOS. The rev 1.0x does not have a 1/4 PCI divider available, the 1.1 does. 133 FSB operation is possible with the 1.1 (with an out of spec 89 MHz AGP), but not a good idea on the 1.0x.

Actually if you buy a good slotket, mod it, you can pop in a P3-S or for cheap a Tualatin Celeron.

Just wanted to emphasize this won't work off-the-shelf (must mod the slotket). No mod needed for non-Tulatin of course.

powerleap has an adapter that will use tualatins in slot 1 bx boards

IMO, modding the cpu is actually easier (but voiding your warranty). It's basically covering up 3 pins and bridging 2 pairs of pins.
