Old network card, 64bit system?

I'm setting up a quick Lan at my house.

I have my modem, my computer, and my friends computer. For some reason he can't turn on internet sharing so we took an extra network card out of his comp and put it in mine.

Modem > My Computer (into onboard, and then out from 2nd card) > My friends Computer (onboard).

I'm trying to get the drivers to work for the card but they weren't working (I was installing thru device manager, not some exe).

Should a generic NIC work on my x64 system?

I wasn't very discriptive.

The entire problem is that I'm not sure if this completely generic Compaq NIC should work on my x64 system. I have a 64bit processor etc, and I'm running Windows x64 Pro. Does regular PCI hardware work like that?
