Old NEC DVD_RW ND 3520AW

I've had the 35320aw for a while now. I've upgraded the firmware once already; not checked if it needs another but I frequently get cyclic redundancy errors. I couldn't rip a DVD and my friend said he'd try and the next day he came back with a copy of the DVD i was trying to rip and copy. What would you recommend for a new DVD burner? I'm not interested in Blue Ray DVD R/RW etc

Uless your woriied about the actual speed of the drive any will do. They are all so cheap now you can't really go wrong spending $40 on a drive.

Wow. Any drive will do? Considering the crap I've had to deal with over the years, like Lite-On and Mad Dog and Iomega, I had no idea there was parity across drives now.

And prices nearly doubled to $40? Cripes, glad I bought mine when I did...
