I am planning on upgrading my machine soon and I would like to upgrade to a P4 1.4 or 1.6ghz and I was wondering if I can still use my old memory. I have 2 sticks of 128MB PC 133. I am on a budget for my upgrade and would like to save some money on my memory and use it towards a new video card or better HDD.

Thanks
Jason

i don't think they made any P4 chipset/motherboards that supported the pc133 memory
you would have to buy either rambus or ddr if you went the P4 route

Yep... even the socket 478 Pentium 4's can be used with SDRAM. I work for a decent sized local PC/Tech Solutions company. Some of the schools we sell to refuse to go to DDR based on price and stubborness. We use an MSI 6528 SDRAM board, with 1.7 Willy P4's. Not the best performing machines... but even with the TNT 2's they get... the machines still get 60+ FPS in Quake. (We hooked 8 together for a little LAN at the company picnic.) Its not the best solution for the P4 in any regard... but it *can* be done.

Tinimir if I was you I would buy a decent DDR board (abit BG7, some other intel 845E,G chipset board) The performance gain is alot if you switch over to DDR and a northwood processor.

Note: YOu can get 256mb of DDR after rebate at Best buy and Circuit City this week for between $30 and $20. PNY brand is pretty good.
