Old mac users?

I'm refurbing a bunch of old 5200 for donation and just learned that cds i burn on a pc aren't readable by machines this old. Is there any way that I could burn a cd (with like update 8.5 to 8.6) that will work.

ideally I'd like to take the iso of 8.5 and add the 8.6 update to it, and then reburn in it.

I think you're running into a hardware problem, more than a software problem. Those old drives did not like burned cd's in general. We used to have alot of problems with any burned cd, whether it was made by a Mac or PC. We had a newer Apple branded drive that we used temporarily in those old systems to get around this type of problem.

It could be a software problem also. If that is the case you would have to try and burn the files on a Mac computer.
