Old Ipad 2 on 7.1.2, Security concerns?

Parents have an old Ipad 2, on IOS 7.1.2. Should there be any security concerns if they are just surfing the net at home? the new IOS updates significantly slow down this old ipad, so I've been hesitant to upgrade them. they mainly use it to surf the internet in safari and check email.

There are some security updates and apps that aren't available with iOS 7, but even then I'd stick with iOS 7. iOS 8.4 is the sweet spot for that device IMO, in terms of features vs. speed, but unfortunately, can no longer update to 8.4. It's iOS 9.3 or nothing, and 9.3 is slow on that.

Stick with 7.1.2 as long as possible.

There are known vulnerabilities in Safari from iOS 7 that can result in your device being totally compromised.
