I have two old 30GB internal Maxtor hdd's. One was in use on an old PII system running Win 98 and has about 8 GB of stuff I don't want/need. The other is from a "bargain" PC that never got used. I installed them in my Dell. One internal and the other in an external enclosure. Win XP recognized them and I can access them.

I would like to clean them up to the point that they would be 'new', so to speak. What do I do? Do I have to manually remove all of the crap thats on them bit by bit? Can I just 'erase' them? I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

Oh, by the way. I have a dell 8200 P4 2.0 Ghz Win XP SP2.

Right click (in my computer), format, etc etc.

You can also do it in Control Panel -> Adimistrative tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management

Since they are Maxtors you can just get Maxblast 4 (free proggie for d/l from Maxtor's site).

It'll do "zero fills" (some people call low level formats), formating and partitioning etc.

Its very easy to use too.
