Old Hardware

A simple question - What old hardware do you still have in your Main computer?

For those of you who class 6 month old components as old - old as in pre 2k at least

None....the hardware in my main rig is about 3 months old. With exception to the sata cables I used....they are new, but had them laying around from a previous build.

my 20GB HD is about 4 years old... IIRC that was the largest you could buy in those days... well, unless you were willing to spend 'obscene' amounts...

Nothing...in any of my systems...in fact, I'm totally floppy free now that I made a custom XP CD. 🙂

I do have a working Commodore64 with about three boxes of games on 5 1/2" floppies... :Q:Q

I still have a working 12meg voodoo-2 card (circa 1998) in my main machine (dual boot w/ 98se). I managed to find enough drivers for XP to stop it from crashing the system most of the time, and I can reboot and fire up NFS2 (and, um, 3, and 4, and um... 5) any time i want.

"In" - none, I did a total new build a couple of years ago.
I use a Dell monitor and keyboard from 1999/1998 though on my main machine, and the Dell they came from is still in service as a "work" machine.

Been through about 3 or 4 floppy drives, (kept breaking), but the first one was bought new.

floppy
40gb hdd (now as secondary though)
cdrom
dvd player/CD-RW combo drive (think I got it pre-2000, not certain).

my sister's "main" pc is a pentium 90 from 1994, 64mb of ram, #9 video card, 1gb hard drive...she just uses it for word processing/web

i use it for starcraft lan games 🙂

easy a sblive value card...from 1998 lol although its moving to the older computer as this mobo has better sound.

Oldest thing in my main PC is an Adaptec 29160N Ultra160 SCSI card, and that is only for my DLT backup device. Its about 3-4 years old.

I have a fairly old SBLive!, an Adaptec 19160, two Atlas 10KII's, an Ultrastar 18LZX, a Lite-On 24X CD-RW and a a WinTV-Go capture card all still in my machine.

I did have two original 1994-1995 Matrox Millennium cards running extra monitors until I found a nice dual-head PCI GeForce4 MX 440 to run my side LCD panels.

I guess my Pioneer 2X DVD burner is getting pretty old, too.

Mine is a 3Dfx Voodoo - Diamond Monster 3D 4MB PCI
my Voodoo 3 and 2 have long since died, but my original voodoo is still goin strong
Good for Glide games but not much else

the oldest things in my computer are, my case (bought it with a $3000 PII-266), the SB Live!, 8 year old floppy, 2 six year old fans (from photocopiers), and a 4 year old hauppauge wintv tuner.

both rigs have extremely high end new gear...oldest piece of hardware is my 120gb maxtor 8mb that I bought mid September

My floppy drive is like super duper old. It came with my first computer back in 1991. Old school heavy as hell TEAC 3.5 floppy drive in old-style funky beige. Funny thing is that there are so many types of beige/white nowadays that it doesn't look too bad in my Antec 835 case. I am also sure that this drive isn't going to break anytime soon, I am not asking alot of it. Used in once since I graduated from college and I don't think I used it even once during college, no...I used it twice in college to transfer some DSP assembly code.

Probably my Lite-On 24/10/40x burner. Got it a couple years ago back when it was ~$85 at newegg.
