In general most of the elderly folks I see are kind and decent but on occasion I see one that has no filter (asks me or tells me all kinds of inappropriate things).
I've only had one patient refuse my medical advice because of my race (I'm asian). A greek-american doctor had to treat him (he lied to the patient and told him he was Italian when the patient asked him if he was greek because he hated greeks).

I think when you get older you care less about the stupid shit.
I like that philosphy.

Tried practicing it at age 8. Didnt fly with the grown ups.

There's been a few studies out there that show as people age, the part of the brain that is responsible for controlling their inhibitions begins showing less activity. This area of the brain helps prevent us from making an inappropriate joke around our in-laws, telling our boss what we REALLY think of him, using a racially-charged epiteth towards someone else, and other various things.

This at least partially explains why older people will often make inappropriate comments or exhibit inappropriate behavior.

Interestingly, there's a study out there that shows women might lose a bit of the inhibition control each month when they ovulate...
