NO, I simply am saying that he was not someone who should be celebrated either in life nor in death. He was as much a product of the media / medium as Captain Crunch, the Trix Rabbit, or any other media manufactured personality. Furthermore, his music did NOTHING to celebrate the positve aspects of life or redemption or rising above adversity. AND if reports of his criminal activity are to be believed, he should never be used as a role model for anyone seeking a "normal"life.
Collecting Welfare after engaging in the pursuit of "the Good Life" such as The WTC did, is criminal and not suitable for acclaim.
Best we just let him rest in peace, and never speak his name in public ever again, except to say, "Child, never be like that."
That's enough from me on him.

:( I like his guest appearance on Mariah Carey's Fantasy single, and "Got Your Money" is one of my favorite songs.

Yeah but in that same aspect there are people who did appriciate his music. Think about it this way, if you had a brother who you loved but lets say was the same as ODB and died would you like other people praising his death? and before you say he wasn't your brother and that most people did not know him you must remember that some fans become so involved with the artist's music that they themselves feel like they are family and lost someone of who they so loved.

You speak as someone that doesn't like his music and doesn't like rap music, which is totally valid, but calling him a "media manufactured personality" and saying that "his music did NOTHING to celebrate the positve aspects of life or redemption or rising above adversity" speaks volumes of your ignorance.

You say "Good Riddance," you say you're glad he's dead. If ODB fills your heart with hatred, it must have been turned cold long ago.

Wow. Truly one of the great ones. Very few could match the off the top lyrics of ODB. :(

Let me know when someone in your family dies so I can respond with "good riddance"

Are you kidding me? This guy was a piece of trash that contributed nothing to society, and actually scammed your money out of welfare.

Yeah, good comparison.

No, I'm not kidding you. You know nothing of the man other than what you've seen on MTV. And if you think people deserve to die for scamming money, you're an ignorant fool. Your ideology frightens me much more than a wealthy man receiving food stamps.

The man had a family. Can you manage an ounce of decency?
yeh he had a family, and how many baby's mamas did he have?

You know its ok not like a person's music. And yea he did drugs and lived a rough life, but to say its good he died is a joke. And I couldn't believe the knuckleheads who were suggesting in the Dick Cheney thread it would be good if he died. Its sad that jackasses have no more respect for life. ODB didn't kill anyone or hurt anyone that I know of. And you guys who posted good riddance, when you die and they post it here, I'll make sure to post good riddance to your deaths as well. Morons

I hate MTV. The site is horrid. Guess there's no CoD in the "article." :|
They might not know what it is yet.

Almost nobody dies of natural causes at age 35.

Which has nothing to do with when they determine the CoD...
Unless there were bullet holes in his chest, it takes time to officially determine the CoD, genius.

I was merely pointing that out. Asshat.

i second that motion... i am no fan of ODB and dont listen to much rap these days, but cheering over someones death means he has no respect for life. what has ODB done to you personally, kidnap your kids and kill your parents? lets hope your favorite artists are next ones on the list.

I'm not praising his death beyond saying "good riddance" to someone who I feel is the anthesis of "Positively Oriented" music. Furthermore, those fans are deluding themselves if they actually believe he is "like family". I understand fanaticism, the root of the term "fan" and the main aspect of that is the unreasonable, unrealistic affectation that consumes them vis a vis their object of idolatry.
As I said in my first post "live by the sword, die by the sword".
It has also been stated as "as ye sow, so shall ye reap". Which leads us to "what goes around, comes around."

THAT YOU KNOW OF, being the operative words there. That he relished his image of thug and "gangsta" is enough to warrant a more distant reaction from me. I know enough of WTC music and image, having been in the music biz for almost 30 years, to be able to pick and choose those artists, and I use the term loosely in this case, that I will extend my best wishes for.
As I said in the original reply, I hope he has left all his babies and babies mommas set for life so that they will not be on WELFARE anymore. THAT is damage to the fabric of our society that he cannot make repairs or amends to anymore. But I doubt that that has happened either. The tendancy is to spend the money on the "bling" and "pimpin' rides" and "ho's" and "Cristal". The smart ones, and we haven't heard any evidence to the contrary in this case, simply a lot of emoting, put something aside for the day when the gravy train comes to a stop. And it will stop for them all either by market conditions or by their demise.

odb once saved a 4 year old girl's life after she was hit by a car by lifting the car off her.
