Howdy,
I am upgrading an old dell dimension 6100 for a friend and he is trying to put a radeon 9800 pro in it.
However, when i put it in all the comp does is beep. If i leave it in but its aux. power plug unconnected the monitor turns on but it does the same beep and says i need to plug it in.
that lends me to believe that there is not enough power in his PSU.
but when i plug the 9800 into his computer and the aux plug into another power supply that i can short to make it turn on, it does the beepy thing again. so that makes me think it isnt power.
However, my 9700 pro works fine in his computer. Arent the 9700 and 9800 very close in power consumption? is there some other difference in the two card that i dont know?
