Old Dell Desktop has problems

I have a Dell Dimension XPS/233 that is having problems. It has been in a closet for about 3 months, and I decided to try to put Linux on it. So, I took opened up the case, and cleaned the dust, and reattached a hard drive.

When I boot the computer, the lights on the front of the machine come on, but the monitor is not getting a signal. I know that the monitor is good, since I am using it right now on my main computer.

I opened up the machine and checked all the cables, and nothing appeared to be loose. Does anyone have any ideas, even obvious one??? 😀

The power supply fan comes on. The light on the CD-Rom, power supply light, and the reset light all stay on when I turn on the computer. I can't remember if that is normal or not.

You have a point about the video card. I will try out a different one.
