Yes, Solaris is free, but they removed Intel processor support after version 8. No newer versions will have Intel CPU support. And this has been free for a while... :)

if you click the link, you can choose Solaris9 (sparc only) or Solaris8 (sparc or intel)...

Thanks Nonunique, but here are the choices:

Solaris 9 on SPARC? platform
Solaris 8 on Intel

I would like to get Solaris 8 on Sparc. I have an old Sun machine with version 2.5 (i think), and would like to upgrade to version 8 because I have a version 8 manual/textbook.
