1989 Honda Prelude

Idle very unstable, and surges very badly. Worse when hot (bad intake manifold gasket).
Windshield and rear window BOTH leak - windshield leak lets water in on top of the electronics. Wipers operate on their own, battery dies if left hooked up. Water recently got into the main relay because of this, making the car unable to start. Rear window leak lets water in the trunk - constant mold / mildew smell in there, and it is perpetually damp.
Both CV axles are COMPLETELY shot. They click horribly in turns, and the steering binds up noticeably because of the bad axles.
Steering rack is done for. If you put the wheel all the way to the left and then turn it a bit, it will continue to turn on its own. Link to vid.
Oil leak somewhere under the hood - definite oil smell whenever HVAC is on.
Burns a quart of oil every 500 miles.
Both front brake rotors warped to hell.
Drivers' rear brake caliper is completely seized up.
Transmission (automatic) doesn't shift out of 2nd when cold - needs at least 5 minutes of driving before going into third. Once warmed up, the transmission slips really badly.
It's dented in the front drivers' side, has a small chunk missing from the bumper, and a really badly bondo'd driver side rear quarter.
Oh, and the A/C doesn't work.

Whew. I think that's everything. I don't drive it anymore, except 1 mile to and from the train station when I'm going to be leaving it for a few days (guess why).

Oh, and the best part - it has 122k miles on it. But it's cool yo, cuz HONDAZ NEVAR BREAK LOL!!11

EDIT: I win (so far) 😛

WTF do you people do to your cars? Have you never changed the oil? A 2003 is still brand new. My 13 y/o car idles fine.

yeah it amazes me how people can stuff relatively news cars so quickly, my 84 ford is still capable fo doing over 200km/h and never misses a beat.

My old 86 ford before it died was good for 205km/h right up till the week before it died...maybe that might have had something to do with....nah I'll blame the 680000kays instead.

Youv'e got the guts of a burglar to drive a 1984 ford that fast...

1995 Ford Bronco XLT 4x4 with 73K miles. As stock as a vehicle can be currently, but I am planning on doing some upgrades to it in the future.

You know, honestly, I just realized I am diehard fanboy for thinking this, but I think I would probably buy that car at market value before buying say a new VW. 😀

Lol 😀 The thing is, I actually really like this car too. Nimble, responsive, actually kind of fun to drive.... I just wish it wasn't such a pile. 🙁 If only I had a garage to work on it...I would have torn into it long ago and gotten most of that crap taken care of. Hell, I have a new IM gasket and axles waiting to go in...but with no place to do the work, I may have to just sell it. I'm not paying a shop $$$$ to do the work.

QFT...Old Aussie fords were built for going fast...I remember seeing old Ford Falcon brochures from that era and they listed the power outputs and torque figures and then interestingly enought 1/4 mile times and top ends of each respective models...most of the figures used to hold true to their word...ford was usually a bit conservative back then when it came to V8 power outputs and performance figures...

back in 84 the Top Falcon/Fairlane availible new, was the XE Fairmont Ghia ESP fitted with a 5.8litre 4V Cleveland, 4spd Toploader and 3.00:1 9 incher standard....it was rated at 149kw and had a top speed of 207km/h...yeah right.

I've driven a few ESP's and let me say that if that 351 has only 149kw then my 127kw sixes really only make 5kw's....and that 207km/h...hmmm what about the other 26km/h that it was capable of.

IIRC Ford America used to do the same thing with some of it High performance fords back in the 60's and 70's.

Just about every 6 cylinder Falcon/Fairlane I've owned has been able to do 200km/h...sure some took longer than others to get there but the nice tall diff ratio's that the used ensured a top end of over 200km/h as long as the engine could reach 4500 rpm in top...which they could easily(redlines are at 5500, engine cut out is at 6120).

Nothing like finding a nice long stretch of road in rural NSW and winding the car out a bit late at night just for a bit of fun....I don't get to do that as often now.

Aight check this out -

96' Taurus GL w/ 151780, yellow paint from a cement pole on one side and a huge tree limb scratch on the other. Rough transmission, but I wanna break a record for a 96' Taurus. LOL, these cars blow!

BTW, I bought it for $300 from an old co worker, all it needed was some transmission fluid and tires...
