Old but gold gaming system choice

Hi guys i have Gigabyte MA785GM Rev1.0 motherboard , 4 GB DDR3 RAM MSI R7 250 2GD3 and Phenom ii x2 570. But i want little update this summer(on Graphic card). If i buy Xeon E5440-X5450-X5460 CPU's i will buy G31-P35 motherboard and DDR2 RAM. Now, on my hand CPU(x2 570) , will be bottleneck R9 270X or HD 7950? As for me it will be. Therefore i'm planning, buy one Xeon series old CPU's. Will be they bottleneck R9 270X or HD 7950? I can make little overclock for each one (my system or xeon system) Thanks now

The Phenom II x2 570 will bottleneck an R9 270x or HD 7950.

An older Xeon will be less of a bottleneck.


You have another option. Your motherboard should support a Phenom II X4 or Phenom II X6 processor.

Honestly, that's mostly a sidegrade, and an actual downgrade going from DDR3 to DDR2. As well, DDR2 is higher-priced and lower-capacity.

It really makes little sense to move from one outdated platform to another.

Either: Buy a Quad-core Phenom II, and a new GPU, or go whole-hog, and get a Kaby Lake 1151 rig.

Or perhaps buy a Haswell i3 pre-built, REFURB, for cheap, and add a GTX1050 GPU.

Can i open hidden cores my phenom ? İf i can make that i will be Phenom x4 B70. Still will be bottleneck? I ordered phenom 570 on aliexpress but it didn't arrive me

I agree, but I wouldn't go with anything less then a 1050Ti GPU.

Newer GPUs mean newer drivers which often require newer OSes, and in turn make it more difficult to use old games.

Vintage gaming is one area where older, higher-wattage, lower-performance GPUs actually still have their uses.

Thanks for your helps, friends i decided use my present system and after buy a x4 or x6 Phenom CPU's. If i can't buy them i will be try my x2 570's hiddden cores but does bios update requeired?

I would start with F5 BIOS unless your board has more recent BIOS. Core-unlocking is not guaranteed, and even if you managed to unlock hidden cores they can be buggy.

My motherboard UDH2 ( http://www.gigabyte.com.tr/products/page/mb/ga-ma785gmt-ud2h_10/overview/ ). I'm knowing, it isn't guaranteed.
