Amazing recommendations!
But regarding the motherboard/memory/graphics card- my friend has a lot of brand loyalty. Even I've come to trust ASUS & EVGA. He's going to spend a little more for a name he knows.

So regarding the motherboard, I've found this (for the same price?! Weird.)-

The pricing of computer technology is a very confusing thing. I think it deserves its own economics course, because it sure doesn't follow any traditional rules.

:\

Not sure why somebody would want to go with something demonstrably worse (esp. wrt 1.5V G.Skill vs. 1.65V Corsair) and more expensive, but to each his own I guess.

I'm with him. I buy the best product I can afford, and since the GSkill are better AND cheaper it's really a no-brainer...

Agreed. I think it's unfortunate that someone would be so stuck on certain brands that they choose an inferior product.

You guys make a really good point! I'll bring it up! Thanks for the great suggestions!

yeah, I didn't think of saying this earlier, but yeah. If you buy a product that's worse than others on the market from a "good" company, it's like telling the company they can coast on reputation, thus allowing them to continue putting out inferior products... Kinda like Apple...
