Old Britannica encyclopedias: donate? throw away?

iamme

My parents have a set of Britannica encyclopedias...any ideas what they can do with them?

Will the local libraries take them? Schools?

It seems like such a waste to throw them out 🙁

Donate them to your school.

i'll probably give the library and some schools a call. has anyone done anything like this before?

i'm wondering if they'd even take them, seeing as how PC's and the internet has made print encyclopedias pretty much extinct.

Fair market value not original price, so maybe $50.

Why do you/they want to get rid of them? You didn't exactly explain that part of the equation.

well, they just collect dust now. just wondering what options were out there. considering how old they are, i was curious if libraries and schools would even take/use them.

Just hold on to them and let them become collectors items, you really have nothing to lose.

that's an option too. they could just store them in the basement and forget about them.
