I have small plunger of original Arctic Silver - maybe five years old. It should be ok to use, shouldn't it? I am using it on a P4 2.6 Northwood with no overclocking.

May depend how you stored. IIRC, if you store it "standing up" it supposed to last longer. Just have a look at it and make sure the components haven't seperated.
