our mental abilities begin to decline from the age of 27 after reaching a peak at 22.

Peak at 22? You mean this year is the best I'll ever be mentally? Oh crap that's not good. I'll be senile by 35

anyone who plays fantasy baseball can attest to this statement. if a player is 26/27 and in a contract year, then he's a must have. :)

I wonder how much of that is natural and how much of it is that as you get older you get kind of used to your routine and don't need to think as much. I would think if you kept your mind active you should be good for quite longer than 27.

As someone who partied a lot in college, I would think my decline started before my 27th...

Oh, sure, olds, you guys had evolved feet and bipedal evolution and . . . tests. Pffffftttt. Bunch of lah-dee-dah lollygaggers!

Back in the day, when I was young, we had just crawled out of the primordial ooze of the primitive oceans and had to construct our own tests out of twigs and moss and stone.

Ha! The lap of luxury that is. What we would have given for twigs, moss and stone.

I've felt old since about 27. Ahh that was just about seven years ago. I'm over the ole hill.

As the future gets cloudier, the past becomes more clear. You are old my friend.

It is the oldest of jokes:They say the memory is the first thing to go. I can't remember what the second thing was.

Intelligence might start declining at 27, but I think that's about the age when wisdom starts kicking in. It balances nicely :)
