So I want to put an Accelero on my 9600GSO (which has the same design as the 8800GT). I have an Accelero S2 that I got for my X850 Pro, but unfortunately, after taking it off of my X850 Pro, I found that it doesn't fit on my card.

So, I found that the Accelero S1 Revision 2 fits on the 8800GT. But, revision 2 coolers cost significantly more.

Does the Accelero S1 before revision 2 fit on the 8800GT? I read that it did because the mounting style was the same as the Geforce 7 series cards, which is known to fit on the S1.

I am 85% sure you will need rev 2. I have them on my 8800gs.

And I am using a custom rigged (i.e. home made :D) 120mm fan on it on lowest speed (silent).

Oooo...that's not good then. I just bought an Accelero S1 on eBay after looking at a thing HardOCP had put out on 8800GT coolers prior to Rev. 2's release.

AC had said the S1 wouldn't fit, but they had found that wasn't the case. Tons of other people prior had been using S1's also.

Since my 9600GSO is even labeled 8800GT on the board, I'm assuming that if the coolers fit on 8800GTs, they should fit on mine. The only difference between my 9600GSO and Dual-Slot 8800GT's should be that there are 2 more ram chips and extra bandwidth.

I mainly went with the old one since the old one was $17, and a new one would have been $25 and $35.

I've the older S1 on an 8800GT currently running 1.37vGPU :D No trouble fitting whatsoever. As for the RAMsinks, just remember to clean the memory chips thoroughly with tough solvent like acetone, MEK, or denatured alcohol and to press the RAMsinks in place with a lot of pressure for half a minute. The S1 does not come with heatsinks for the power regulators but it should be fine even when overclocked with a bit of airflow. The entire PCB warms up so I would not recommend heavy overclocking running passively.

Fits fine. I second the recommendation to clean the memory chips as the tape AC puts on the RAMsinks is rather pathetic.

I actually ended up buying from eWiz in reality, cept on eBay. So I paid $20.something, but there's $3.something cashback, so considering heightened shipping costs on eWiz, it was cheaper to buy from eBay.

I'm buying this btw because I'm attempting a voltmod...I shaded the FB resistor and the card ended up being a lot hotter.

As for the voltage regulators, since the 9600GSO has only 6 ram chips, there should be 2 extra heatsinks, so I could just throw them on there. Also I have 8 from my X850 Pro that I don't use anymore.

It's not like the voltage regulator chips were cooled with my stock dual-slot cooler though.
